Mao Mao's the only one who's a fighter AND competent.

Star with Magic could null basically all the characters combined but also the one to be protected in the process. Charlie’s power level isn’t well established but if she’s devil super powered and godly that could knock a lot of the characters out. Depending on how Korra’s earth and energy bending goes that could knock Steven out But not sure about star or Charlie. MaoMao I don’t know the extent of but he seems like a sword fighter mostly. Steven is OP hacks in defense with superfluous resurrection bullshit but I don’t like him. Wander’s probably the worst bet unless toon force nulls everything.

Stuff like toonforce excluded, Mao Mao is massively overpowered. He regularly takes on house-sized monsters and was able to atomize that shadow monster with his Lunar Slash

Star has some good stuff too, but she isn't fast enough to go into butterfly mode and blast Mao before he cuts her down.

Of course toonforce nulls everything, but Wander isn't outright toonforce since he wasn't able to goon Dominator

As for the OP, I'd go with either Steven or Mao Mao. Steven is OP and I'm pretty sure I could manipulate his dumb ass into competence, and Mao Mao's sword is a Legendary Weapon and he himself is an actually competent fighter. All I have to do is lavish him with praise and subtly jab at his insecurities and he'd die for me.

Shit, all I have to do is just outright tell Mao Mao or Steven what Star did or who Charlie is and they'll be on my side.

Mao Mao has enough daddy issues to make a psychologist rich, but if there's one thing he is not that thing would be bad at fighting.

He's a really good swordsman.

Mao Mao's definitely killed people, and ironically would be the most capable of everyone trying to kill you, despite being the least powerful.
