This. Steven’s world is that where everything can be resolved through emotions and magic powers while lovecraft’s world is that where emotions and magic can’t save you and the people you know or will lead to your downfall.

It's also the opposite of being xenophobic and implies that humanity does matter. Lovecraft was afraid of damn near everybody and thought that humanity was inconsequential, so why would God's or beings or could be described as gods care for us? We're pretty indifferent to ants on a whole.

In SU’s case, this is pretty much limited to Greg, Connie and maybe Lars (transhumanism and all).
One of my biggest gripes is that the show pushes the “humanity is awesome” message but makes the humans irrelevant to the grand scheme of things.

It's more of a failure on the series ro properly communicate the message. You can still tell that's what they're trying to go out and it is Steven's humanity that ultimately saves the day anyway.

That doesn't make it lovecraftian. Dark yes, but that in of itself makes it lovecraft. Lovecraft is like, turning into a monster out of madness of something.

Not really. The diamonds & homeworld follow Steven out of nepotism. If he had been born human without Pink Diamond's gem then they would have failed. In the SU movie Steven gives them the stink eye because he knows their full of shit but since they kissed his ass/"adore him", he ignores it. SU really doesnt work at all even by the standards Sugar's had in AT. Steven was born special with a silver spoon in his mouth and gets everything handed to him like the entitled 1%er's Sugar despises. The only thing Lovecraftian about SU is that Steven is a Dunwich Horror that has brainwashed everyone into loving him & the Diamonds like an Outer God cult.
