Absolutely, probably my favourite couple next to Toph and Sokka. Never considered them before the comics like many, then the more I thought about it, the more I liked it.

I do want to know why they chose to push Zuko/Suki in the comics. Like, sure, Mai was unlikeable enough as it was, but the Sokka/Suki dynamic was pretty healthy in the series. I don't see why they couldn't have brought Jin back if they wanted Zuko to go Scorched Earth, if you catch my drift.

On another note, I wonder why they never talked about race-mixing in ATLA/Korra. It seems like if you wanted some easy social commentary, nationalism/tribalism would seem like the first place to start. Just have Sokka and Suki holding hands in public and that ought to be enough to get the ball rolling, right?

did you even read the comics? sokka/suki is still going strong.

I could explain why I like them, but it would probably come off like any shipper trying to find any justification for their ship. I've seen Zutara fans go into Asiatic spirituality to argue why it should have been Zuko x Katara endgame. (But they're the crazies.)

I have a feeling that the writer Gene Yang just shipped them and had little moments like that. As says, it's a handful of panels, but it's clearly shipbait for the most part. I doubt Bryke would allow their canon ships to properly end.

I've thought the same. They went for some sort of nationalism thing in North and South, and while I haven't read it in a time, I remember feeling myself siding with Katara/Gilak sentiment during it. You're right though, could have been an easy thing to at least had some small thing to add it.

I haven't read Imbalance yet, but did see some screecaps of the Sokka/Suki stuff. I imagine that was in part wanting to correct from the previous comics and cement them. I don't mind too much, they're definitely the best of the canon couples.

The only thing I don't understand about the Kyoshi Warriors is how do they work.
Like, they go working for Kyoshi Island, to working for the Earth Kingdom, to working for Zuko, to working for Aang, and then Suki and Ty Lee just take vacations to do whatever they want whenever they want.
Like, these girls don't have the best track record for loyalty.

the kyoshi warriors are the dumbest thing about avatar by far. well, other than june, hard to decide whos more useless and has less reason to exist between the two.

I've noticed that as well. With the Earth Kingdom during the war, makes sense. Suki and a few others left to help, in what I imagine was around the idea of that the One Hundred Year War was something much bigger than Kyoshi Island. The Zuko one is a bit harder to justify.
I assume there's more villages on Kyoshi Island, and many more Kyoshi Warriors than just that small group, so sparing a few is probably alright, but Suki definitely has a personal motive for this rather than a moral reason like the war.

It's probably because she's now BFFs with a lot of people from each of the Nations.
If one of my friends was the Fire Lord you bet your ass I'd go looking for a (semi) cushy job.

Korra is mostly okay-ish. Just avoid the comics like the plague.

Play the Korra game. The story is pointless but the game is fun. They really nailed the bending forms and combos.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I always felt there was a story there about how Suki was putting her personal relationships ahead of what may be best for Kyoshi Island.
