Just played this again for the first time in like 15 years. Holy shit, I remember liking it when I was younger but now I can REALLY appreciate what they were going for, and I think they nailed it perfectly. This is literally a 90s cartoon in video game form.
It's like playing a fucked up mixture of Rocko's, Duckman and Ren & Stimpy, with South Park and Happy Tree Friends thrown in for the gore and toilet humor.

Now that I think about it, the 90s had this really cool thing where comics and vidya kinda fed off each other, and I'm not talking about adaptations, but the aesthetics and writing style. Earthworm Jim, Oddworld, the Lucasarts adventurers like Monkey Island and Sam & Max. I don't know how to describe it, but I think if you grew up in the 90s you know exactly what I'm talking about, this 90s cartoon and comics feel, from the visuals to the humor/dialogue, it's something that I just don't see anymore, neither in games nor in cartoons; I think Billy & Mandy was like the last of the cartoons with this "90s feel" I'm talking about.

How do we bring it back, Zig Forums? Everyone loves aping the 70s and the 80s, surely this style can make a comeback, right?

weird how in 20 years or so people will be nostalgic for calarts

Step 1. Stop being a useless piece of shit and expecting everyone else to do all the hard work for you.
There are no other steps

I don't think so, at least no in the same way we're nostalgic for 90s animation. Hanna-Barbera and Filmation are frequently shit on for the cheap animation they used in the 70s. I think it will be similar for contemporary shows: people will remember them fondly maybe, but they will definitely be aware that the animation was cheap and every show looked the same.

what the fuck are you talking about

>This is literally a 90s cartoon in video game form.
It's inspired by funny animal cartoons like Looney Tunes and Disney from the 30's-40's, hence Conker's gloves, everything having a face and dancing, the music, etc.

I wouldn't say it's INSPIRED by that, more like parodies it. It's mostly inspired by 90s cartoons that used to tackle mature and often outrageous themes in a cutesy/humorous manner.

>How do we bring it back, Zig Forums?
If you want something done, you've got to do it yourself.

actually agree.
At the end of the day everyone on Zig Forums has some kind of creative thought/hobby. we should share those more

I miss the times when most animated shows had a game associated with them. An actual game and not just something you can only play on the website. The recent Steven Universe games were fun but they seem to be a vanishing exception.

The designer for Digimon came out and said his style was based on 90s comics too. And that was an anime. There are Digimon that remind if Spawn and Ratfink it was great.

That won't actually accomplish anything aside from just wishful thinking, which is ultimately more depressing than just ignoring the subject altogether.

Oh and he's a Mike Mignola fan. I see him like Mike's tweets on Twitter even. And theres a ghost Rider digimon.

Most licensed games were pretty bad desu.

Well it certainly would make better threads than usual

Same.

Most of them were passable, and it was fun to have something to play based on a movie you like, even if the game is kinda shitty. There were a fuckton of platformers for the PS2 based on movies and cartoons that were actually pretty dope, and the 16-bit era licensed stuff has tons of gems.

Dream show / pitch threads have always been a thing. But maybe my oldfag is showing.

That's literally how niches and communities start, by people talking about the stuff they like.
That's what Zig Forums used to be like years ago, when this website was actually influential and used to set trends and not just a political battleground-turned toxic wasteland.

But Zig Forums has never managed to accomplish anything of value. Even the more promising things didn't start with OPs this shitty.

>That Ladybug comic
>GG managing 2 volumes and continues to be talked about and worked on
>Channel-tans still prop up every now and then

Zig Forums has things but for the sake of the meme we pretend Zig Forums doesn't do stuff and it's easier to listen to a parody video game song based off a youtube video then it is reading something

>spend early morning watching cartoons
>then switch to playing CN Racing on the PS2
Saturday mornings were just one long cartoon for me. Good times.

Man, fuck off with the sadwank and negativity, these threads aren't supposed to be anything more than a few hours of conversation between some anons talking about things they like.

>CN Racing
my nigga, CN and Nick games were pretty dope. I'm pretty excited to play the Sponge Bob remaster, and the new Samurai Jack game that's coming out.

they're relaunching Clone High and Zig Forums is literally the only place on the web where I've sen anyone talk about it.
same for Moral Orel
And a lot on non-capeshit comics

Zig Forums may not produce that much stuff (not none, just not much) but it's still a great place to share new or old, mostly forgotten things

This. Just because we don't literally have a label doesn't mean it's not a place where creative people come to talk about shit.

When comparing Zig Forums and Zig Forums's creations in terms of quantity, people love to forget that Zig Forums has approximately 15 gorillion more active posters than this board, where threads can survive for over a week and still not hit bump limit

Here's how you remind them

The remake would have sold better if it had been released on Xbox 360.

Didn't Conker actually say something along these lines before they did the remaster?

Wow dude, for the longest time I thought it WAS an Xbox 360 game

I think you could play it on the 360 with it's limited backwards compatibility

This game was 64MB on the N64 cartridge. The only other 2 N64 games that were 64MB were Stadium 2 and RE2. The cartridges even feel heavy. It's amazing how much they could compress into just 64GB.

It makes me think if the Switch will get GTA 5. It can happen with 64GBs.
