I'm not ready to declare them canon unless they appear in a non phone game. And even then, it has to be mainline.
That being said, I don't want them in the games with the current state the games are in. Sega doesn't even know how to use their own characters right. I'd rather they not suffer the same fate as just sitting on the sidelines and cheering for Sonic during the final boss.
Also, if they do end up in a game, they'll probably get swarmed with mandates just like the rest of the SEGA characters. Do you really want to take away the best thing going for them in the comic? The lack of mandate restrictions?
