What's the appeal of Tom Taylor's writing...

What's the appeal of Tom Taylor's writing? I'm not usually one of those fags who complains about stuff being "Mean-Spirited" but I dunno, the way his writing feels kinda spiteful sometimes.

There is no appeal for people who enjoy superheroes.

Very much like Tom king he writes for people who "always hated/found THAT character stupid"

>What's the appeal of Tom Taylor's writing?
The type of "fans" who wants everyone to know that comics are "fun" again. They love pages and panels like this so they excuse him putting lesser known characters through the meat grinder.

It's a formula that works for him somehow, sorta like Donny Cates' edgelord persona and aesthetics he uses to mask his mediocre writing.

Shitskins who think excessive edge and violence is mature and cool. Seriously, most people I found who like Tom Taylor and his writing are pajeets, brazilians and spics who consequently like the Snyderverse.

I've notice that about Snyder too. Lots of Mexican fans. Like ghost rider fans.

It’s fun.

Is it tho?

I dunno, I guess. I read it

This guy gets it.

I enjoy both, what now?

From what I can tell, he's doing what DC pays him to do. The whole point of this and Injustice is to create these bleak and shocking stories to keep people on their feet like zombie apocalypse movies where anyone can die horribly or whatever. His dialogue and character interactions can be fun otherwise when it's not trying to edgy.

Like in Injustice, he doesn't like that he's forced to write Diana that way, so instead of trying to make it "work," he turns up the cringe dial to 11. Like Superman and her are not supposed to come off as romantic pair. It's supposed to be god awful and to give people in the comment's section something to yell about. He's pretty self-aware about it.

Literally
>I was being retarded on purpose
That doesn't make it good. Being a spineless sock puppet and intentionally writing trash isn't talent and certainly isn't commendable. You feel bad for him, that's no reason to enjoy the garbage that he writes.

And by now it's by his own volition.

>The type of "fans" who wants everyone to know that comics are "fun" again.
you mean casuals who pirate comics and spend more time tweeting than reading the comics they claim to be fans of?

You've proven his point that's what now. You're a casual who hates superheroes until they're written wildly out of character with doses of meaningless, schlocky shocks that do nothing but shit on characters the writer didn't have time to wiki.

>you mean casuals who pirate comics and spend more time tweeting than reading the comics they claim to be fans of?
So Zig Forums?

Nobody is saying Injustice is good writing or even aiming for decency, dumbass. Nor am I feeling bad for him. It's a job he does and he's clearly doing it right since a lot of people find these series entertaining. I'd sooner make fun of him for trying to pretend something like Injustice is anything but over the top and stupid from conception. I'm sure some other writer with less self-awareness would try to tell that story in some pretentious and super serious manner.

You don't have to like any of it, but if you aren't a fucking child, you could easily understand why it appeals to people.

But most of the time it isn't? Read something from him that's not apocaliptic AU.

you mean like X-Men Red, one of the worst X-Men comics ever written?

You have shit taste

The only thing that I can think of that fits that bill and is decent is Friendly Neighborhood

>It's a job he does and he's clearly doing it right since a lot of people find these series entertaining
user fuck you and your appeal to popularity. A carpenter doesn't get a pass on a poorly built chair just because you're ok with mediocrity.

Taylor is basically a normie version of Johns. They both have a love of ultra violence mixed with their ability to nail the
>Le feels ;_;
Moments that reddit loves. They’re both total fucking hypocrites who complain about “darkness” while gleefully indulging themselves in that very element. Only difference is Johns at least had the virtue of liking some of the more obscure DC characters, while Taylor’s tastes are as vanilla as they come. He’s a Batfag first and foremost, then I guess he likes Superman, then everyone else.

You guys forgot All-New X-Men, but don't worry, he'll make sure to remind you.

You may not have noticed, but the only shit he writes that isn’t completely fucking awful is stuff where he can slaughter C-Listers for cheap “feels”. His Green Lantern stint? Dogshit. His Batman/Superman? Crap. X-Men Red sucked. Only decent stuff he’s written is Laura as Wolverine and a couple Batman one offs.

His detective one shot was atrocious and that wolverine run is strictly for literal faggots who love honey badger.

He doesnt nail those feels moments though. Not nearly as well as John's.
>inb4 j-Johnsfag!
Not at all taylor just just every worst part of people like Johns with none of the redeeming qualities.

>I'm the superior militant centrist who holds no opinions of my own but definitely thinks everyone else's opinion is far too staunch

Eh, I like violence and funny character moments/dumb funny shit like the Butlering in alternate universes. It isn't main continuity so I'm more forgiving. Superior Iron Man was good too.

I can't agree. Like with certain writers I can usually tell if they don't like a character but I just don't see it from Taylor.
He's nowhere near perfect (his Earth 2 stuff is hot garbage) but he's still a pretty solid writer.

It's not that he dislikes the characters. It's more that he takes great pleasure in destroying worlds and setting things on fire. He thinks an apocalypse is the most ideal time for certain characters to shine.

I mean, sorta? I agree that DCeased shows this off, though the other two times he's been involved in end of the world type stories they were already sorta handed to him.
I don't really see how ANAD Wolverine and stuff like his Batman annual fit into that narrative though.
