I am watching Robin Hood on Blu-ray and I've noticed that the picture is cropped compared to the DVD version. Also Marian is lovely and cute. Discuss.

You mean like almost every 2D Disney movie ever?

Marian and Robin were romantic af.
I feel like the fact that the audience understood them falling for each other was a pre-established event that we didn't see helped with that.
It wasn't an origin story--we didn't see how Robin grew to become the swash-buckling thief we know him as, and we didn't see him meet John, Tuck, Marian, etc. for the first time, so we just get to see these relationships without having to build up to them.
So we can just see Robin and Little John being bros, and rather than having to make Robin and Marian grow closer over the course of a movie, we can spend more time focusing on how utterly in love they already are.

>In April 2020, it was reported that Disney is developing a live-action/CG hybrid remake of Robin Hood featuring the same kind of anthropomorphic characters as in the 1973 film, with Kari Granlund writing and Carlos Lopez Estrada directing, while Justin Springer will produce the film.
>The remake will be released exclusively on Disney+.

She's one of Disney's most underrated waifus.

I liked the song the rooster sang at the beginning, until that fucking happy hamster dance or whatever came along and made it stupid

If Prince John is an adult lion without a mane, is he actually a she?

I mean, I know there exist some types of lions that don't grown manes, but we see John's brother, and he has a mane.

What?? Everyone loves her.

A lot of the Xerox-era movies were produced in 1.33 but cropped for their actual theatrical releases. Since the shift to HD, Disney's been favoring cropped theatrical versions.

he is probably a low test faggot numale soiboi, but still biologically male

Like mentioned, there’s some pre-established story

Also, they kind of went the “Aesop’s Fables” route when they made them animals—those fables tended to feature anthropomorphized animals because it’s easier to associate certain characteristics with animals than to have to explain their character, hence by making Robin a sly, clever fox we understand what he’s like better without excessive exposition than if he was a human.

I don’t know if there being pre-established elements is why they did that, or if they simply thought it was fun, but regardless Prince John is portrayed as an ineffective, infantile, thumb-sucking, wimpy ruler, so him not having a mane is fitting design-wise.

Or maybe he has low test. I don’t know.

That some dirt metaphoring right there Ill tell you what.

Okay post the pregnancy pics I know you have them.

Robin Hood and especially Sword in the Stone have famously fucked up blurays.

Damn. They'd probably cut this scene out of modern remake.

Welcome to the fabulous world of Disney's """"""""""restorations""""""""""

>Robin:...and we'll have six children?
>Marian: (giggling) Six? Oh, a dozen at least!

The wholesome thirst she has throughout the movie is cute

The Sword in the Stone blu ray looks like an 2xsaI emulator filter.

I hope they won't make them too bright and cartoony like in zootopia, but I have a feeling they'll come out looking very uncanny then.

Cartoony is a WAY better alternative than being dimly lit and realistic. They could literally just do this exact style in 3D but they probably won't.
