Easy mode is Dinobot but I'll go for Raimundo from Xiaolin Showdown. Gets held back, betrays his friends and helps the villainess take over the world, is the destined person to open the box to strip her of her powers, spends the rest of the series building back trust, and the finale is him becoming the leader and beating all the villains himself.

He doesn't really even join Section 13 though

I think it was like a parole thing, I remember that bald leader said something about a favor

I loved how it wasn't a metter of simply being better than the rest, but him being a cocky laidback jerk who got humbled hard early on, and ONLY after learing the value of DISCIPLINE and DILIGENCE did he end up soaring above the rest, with a fair amount of bumps on the road due to his character not changing overnight.
