They aren't tearing it down they're just re-theming it. And considering they're hemorrhaging money right now, it's going to be a really hasty and shitty re-theme on top of everything that will remain unchanged for years and possibly an entire decade before they take another swing at it.

Rumor is they moved the money from these Epcot projects to Splash Mountain
Also based Cabs and Figment are save for now

Since Splash Mountain was what lead to Bear Country being renamed to Critter Country and Princess and the Frog being set in New Orleans. Is Disney going to retire Critter Country altogether and make the PatF ride part of New Orleans Square?

Stitch's Great Escape officially dead, as is Primeval Whirl, which had been shut down for months due to parts shortages.

Rivers of Light not coming back after the pandemic ends, but Disney kinda killed it already when they got rid of the Shamans and injected more IP branding.

Presumably that's the long term plan.

>Stitch's Great Escape officially dead, as is Primeval Whirl, which had been shut down for months due to parts shortages.
Good

AHAHAHAHAHSHSGAGFGGGFFHXGS okay user

they have more money than god. I don't know why you're worried that disney is gonna run out of cash.

I think WDW Pro was implying that the announcement to change Splash Mountain was premature because it didn't go through the channels that would've calculated costs and things

Because movies and parks are getting badly hit by Coronavirus

Other sites are calling it in. Comes from internal Cast Member memos.

I haven’t been to Disney world so for a second I mixed up Primeval Whirl and DINOSAUR, my heart skipped a beat

they have billions of dollars. Most people can scarcely fathom one billion, let alone multiple. they're probably gonna be fine. also companies aren't your friends, who cares if they go bankrupt unless you're literally working for them.

Because Disney makes most of their cash from the theme parks and ESPN and those have been out of commission for months. Why do you think they suddenly went "AAAH NBA SAVE ME!" these last few months with that Disney World tournament that's already been compromised with a few players testing positive?

I would not care if every single disney product was hurled into the sun.

Who fucking cares for a Marry Poppins ride? The new movie did shit at box office, and most kids don't give a shit on the old one.

They spent over 70 billion dollars on Fox and stuff was getting hacked and slashed well before the virus fucked them further. Disney being the invincible overlords of entertainment is mostly a meme created by people that only consoomed Star Wars and MCU movies.

I must restate my second point
>companies aren't your friends, who cares if they go bankrupt unless you're literally working for them.
let 'em burn.

rivers was kino and whirl was fun i hope they dont remove dinoland

It's entirely like that a lot of the money to rennovate splash mountain has already been spent, or they see it as a much higher priority.

Wasn't disputing your point, just encouraging you to get the popcorn ready.

Actually they really didn’t, they always had debt and most of their money got funneled back into projects

Splash Mountain hadn't even gotten to the "assign a budget" phase yet when they announced it. Was apparently gonna be a later phase of that whole "Make the parks more woke" strategy since all the sets in Splash are made of concrete and that's gonna be a pain in the ass to tear down and redo to match the PATF characters. Whole thing's apparently getting fasttracked because they were afraid people complaining on Twitter about Splash Mountain was gonna turn into a Disney+ boycott.

So what does this mean for the Winnie the Pooh ride?

So much higher priority then. Mystery solved.

>Whole thing's apparently getting fasttracked because they were afraid people complaining on Twitter about Splash Mountain was gonna turn into a Disney+ boycott.
Disney is fucking stupid if they don't realize twitter users are not only a small minority, but too unfocused and changing topics to sustain any legitimate boycott

This. Goya foods CEO said pro trump stuff and edited did a boycott but now the counter boycott sees its stuff sold out everywhere

>Walt Disney Co. has raised nearly $11 billion in new debt to weather the coronavirus crisis that has shuttered its theme parks and halted film and TV productions.

>The Burbank entertainment giant disclosed the raise in a Tuesday regulatory filing. In a separate prospectus, Disney said the proceeds would be used for “general corporate purposes,” including the repayment of other debt.

>Disney has been hammered by the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions meant to slow its spread. Its domestic parks, Disneyland in Anaheim and Walt Disney World in Orlando, have been closed since mid-March. Disney estimated that the parks closures resulted in a $1-billion hit to its operating income in the fiscal quarter that ended March 28.

>To survive the situation, the company previously raised billions of dollars in new debt, slashed executive salaries and furloughed more than 100,000 workers, including “cast members” at its parks.

>Ratings agency Moody’s assigned Disney debt raise, totaling $10.92 billion, an A2 rating.

>Neil Begley, Moody’s senior vice president, said the move “essentially removes any question that the company has robust liquidity to help carry it through this ‘black swan’ cycle caused by the spread of COVID-19.”

Disney took on a crazy amount of debt to acquire Fox last year. At this point, they desperately need to save cash just to make interest payments on the debt.

That chart is in billions, by the way.

They're gonna lose a ton more once people start getting the virus from the parks, or when one of the face characters not allowed to wear a mask gets it.
