They're only making these movies so that Disney doesn't get the complete rights back to Spider-Man. Because Sony unlike Disney or even WB (despite the mishandling of the Harry Potter and DC Ips), doesn't really have any tentpole franchises in their tank. All Sony has is Ghostbusters, Spider-Man, and a few other smaller IP properties nobody cares about.
