Here's what you fail to understand. Thanos always loses. Without fail, he always fails. Batman Who Laughs always wins. He can't lose and no matter what the heroes do, it will always be part of his plan in the end. In every single story he's had, he always ended up on top. Thanos can have setbacks and often does, nothing ever goes wrong for The Batman Who laughs and only 1 issue into his newest comic he's almost on par with TOAA Thanos when it comes to power.

Wank isn't just how powerful someone gets, it's also how unreasonable their achievements are. It's a hell of a lot easier to believe that Thanos could become a god than some Batman who became crazy because he inhaled Joker farts.

No he didn't, he literally let the heroes get away by his own will every single time, Infinity Gauntlet or Hearth of the Universe or Thanos Wins he won fair and square every single time and EASILY, he never had a major defeat in his life but stomped the entire Marvel unvierse several times in a row. It's always his plan, the character simply want to have fun by bullying everyone and then being noticed by Lady Death.

And don't even try to push that those achievements are reasonable when they are based around the author making up a vague all powerful deus ex machina mcguffin to make him instantly beat everyone.
