Been watching King of the Hill
I really like the series, but Jesus Christ I cannot stand Peggy anymore
It seems she gets worse every episode and Hank keeps enabling her
I just want to punch her stupid face

Been watching King of the Hill
Yeah. She gets annoying real quick. Her constant need to feel like she’s important, more interesting or better than she is got overwhelming
Peggy's interesting because she's a shitty person genuinely trying to be good. Makes for some fun episodes imo
I think it's interesting that they wrote a deeply narcissistic person into the main cast, but at this point it becomes harder and harder to watch
I am not sure where she's actually trying to be good
Everything she does seems to put her in a better light in her head. I just watched the episode where she kidnaps a child because she cannot admit, that she can't speak Spanish
The whole reason luanne lives with them is because her life is complete shit and Peggy feels bad about it. She genuinely cares about her family, but her shitty personality constantly causes problems. Just because she's unlikable doesn't mean she isn't a good character.
ayy I've been watching a lot of KotH too, it's my first time binging it from start to finish. A few years ago I was trying to binge it on netflix but it got taken down when I was on season 9. I'm currently on season 12 and I'm surprised with consistent the quality is after so many seasons. Of course, it has it's bad episodes, but overall it's a really solid show.
As for Peggy, I'm not a big fan of when they try to make her sympathetic because it just doesn't work that well when she has the reputation that she has. I know there's times where the writers want me to feel bad for her, but I just don't. That's how I am with most of the characters though, I think they're all unlikable in their own ways, Hank can be very unreasonable at times, but the writers make an effort to show you that he's willing to try and improve upon himself, I wish they'd do the same for Peggy and give her some learning moments.
It's definitely an interesting character, but she also drives me mad. When she calls herself 'Peggy Hill' with that underserved confidence, I want to punch the screen
Hank has to have exceptional patience to live with that woman
Peggy is shown to be stupid, she fucks up a lot of the time and sometimes actually gets negative consequences for it. Which makes her infinitely less annoying than every feckless fetid femminist mary sue in animation today.
For my money Joseph Gribble is the most annoying character in King Of The Hill because he's not developed as a character at all and does nothing but be incredible retarded and awkward throughout the entire show.
He does and thats why he understands that peggy means well but is overconfident and brazen.
I'm currently on season 12 episode 20, Cops and Robert, and Hank accidentally stole a guy's wallet and keeps leaving vaguely threatening messages on his voicemail. Hank is a smart guy, why the FUCK doesn't he just say "hey I accidentally took your wallet, I'd like to come return it to you", instead he's saying shit like "let's settle this" "I'll be seeing you" which is provoking the guy. Hank isn't that stupid
KotH is great because if you don't get why things are funny you probably never will. Peggy is an example, typical working-class housewife who doesn't understand her actual place and needs validation for things she hasn't earned. Contrast to Hank, who sells propane and propane accessories and is totally fine with that modest role in life. Peggy is representative of those kinds of attention-whoring women who don't actually want to improve themselves or work diligently at something but rather want instant gratification for who they already are. Which is a real problem now.
OH MY GOD IT'S SO JUICY!
Peggy works because she fails and is the butt of the joke at times. A character like her today would always be right in the end.
only incels have a problem with peggy's character.
Damn, never even thought of that. You're right Peggy is a strong woman and incels only hate her because she's so competent and driven. They can't have that in a female character.
Yeah I feel like Joseph's character is basically "I'm a horny teenager" from what I remember. The significance of his character existing at all is pretty much to show that Dale is deep down a sympathetic and loving father, I suppose.
I'm a woman and she's one of my least favorite characters. I definitely don't hate her as much as some people, like I don't want to punch her like many do. But it's impossible not to be at least annoyed with her character when she's constantly shown refusing to improve upon herself and doesn't face as many consequences, that's a recipe for a character many fans will hate. I would've liked to see more interaction between her and Cotton, they're both characters that are easy to hate and they hate each other, it made for some amusing scenarios whenever they had episodes together.
>ITT post characters you hate
Female Characters. Why? They never suffer consequences worth a damn.
Because deep in our biological code they're the fragile gender, and that's correct. They're not supposed to be putting themselves in danger or having deep intellectual disputes because it just seems quaint and unrealistic. As a result they're put in those situations because progressive culture but can't suffer the consequences of it otherwise people get mad and hate the product.
I like that in every thread about KotH people always hate on Peggy. I don't think I ever seen a cartoon character that is generally hated.
Any challengers?
>Hank keeps enabling her
Most people don't know this other than Hank and that one guy but Peggy is actually a really good lay.
You know she's written to be like that?
She is a shitty person, but I like her as a person.
Her characteristics make her very real. She is essentially a narcissist, but with caring tendencies toward certain people. Gives her a nice depth. Even if you end up hating her.
I know this is a shitpost, but Peggy is blatantly horny just enough times in the actual show that I can see it. Plus you don't get much better at riding than a Montana cowgirl.
Oh I was kinda being serious there. Joking aside I think Hank legit is just sorta blinded by his devotion to his wife due to his weird moral autism and having never really been with anyone else.
>I'm a woman
Just because you wish it doesn't make it so faggot
Hank is dang asinine
Hank acts out of character sometimes in later seasons. Remember that thing with Boomhauer's brother?
He acts out of character during the whole show
Hank is quite prone to humiliation, and having already had an explosive outburst that was completely his fault likely weighed on him quite a lot. There was also little reason to suspect the dude was going to go full on Bernie Goetz.
At least she encourages Bobby with his interests unlike Hank
