I'm so sorry user, the fact that we can get so attatched to our little friends despite their impermanence is tragic. Even dwelling on your mutual care for eachother will only make it hurt worse. I hope someday we can find a way to end death for us and our familiars, but there are many years and many deaths between now and then. I can tell you that at some point you will be able to think of the good times with him and not cry, but this time specifically will always hurt.

That one fucked me up long before I had to deal with losing anyone or anything. As time went on it on it became more poignant.
