Florpus was nowhere near what IZ did. It was IZ-lite, with alot of Justin Soiland "Inspiration". A post Florpus IZ show would tank.
We need an actual return to form. IZ still holds up. The new comics and movie just aren't that good.

if they did bring it back post-culture clash, though, man I can't even imagine what that would look like. How could IZ get any better, save for animating the team's scrapped material? I'd be fucking hyped if that happened though.

ehh, I liked them. I do agree with you though, IZ appeals because it could be fucking dark at times. I think with how jhonen says he'd make it more light-hearted, I'd be ok with some straight up sap here and there if it meant that he turned the dark moments up to 100. Shit that would make you say "oh, fuck." If you're gonna give us a little bit of light in this dark, horrible world, make us fucking appreciate it.

Honestly, I have no idea. I get the same vibe from him. But if any executive at all gets even a sliver of control on it, they won't waste any time going straight for what sells. This. It's not like every episode of Invader Zim was Dark Harvest anyways. There's a lot of episodes that are just objectively silly for the sake of being silly, like Zim Eats Waffles. The show works better because its both goofy and dark. That kind of approach makes the really dark shit stick more.
