So yes, different flavors of shit, but in terms of which one is better at least Family Guy offers more emotional value than dead air.

Not a chance even at its worst (and The Simpsons has rebounded from its nadir of a few years ago) it could still get a few solid laughs per season out of me.

I honestly think Famiy Guy would be "entertained smile" tier a lot of the time if they just didn't insist on explaining their jokes or flat out running them into the ground all the time. I dont get it. Its so self defeating, it's like they don't WANT to succeed, they'll have a good idea and then make you hate it by turning to the camera and flat out explaining it after, or making it into a drawn out cutaway. And they KNOW people are sick of the cutaways because they refer to it all the time but they still do it. Its like they hate doing FG and want it to just die already. But they have potential, the only thing thats been irreversibly ruined is Peters character, which has been so thoroughly assassinated he can never be anything but the funny awful meme man
I've been seeing a lot of it and Futurama on TV lately while traveling and im honestly surprised by the potential in it, but it can do better. Futurama always has the same quality rapid-fire kind of comedy old Simpsons had, its great. It and American Dad are obviously where the bulk of talent from Simpsons and FG ended up
