The show was extremely unpopular. Their Facebook and Twitter page was literally dead. +Outside of the Reggie gang folks didn't like Reggie. +Unlike holly based Hilda, we didn't get any Reggie plushie or anything good merchandise. Even we coomers or Clords can't save the show, but Jeez I wish a Reggie plushie so damn much. They really really fucked up. People who got upset because of Julia didn't even know about the show before that news.

What the hell happened to this board in the last six years that has caused this phenomenon? This was my main board back before /frz/ was exiled and it's impossible to imagine people actually being mad at shows adding canon yuri, but coming back now there are constantly threads seething about it.
Is this a reaction to trannies and their frequent appropriation of the term 'lesbian'? It it part of the religious larp fad? Is it just contrarianism in the wake of a series of big shows adding canon yuri?

It has everything to do with it. Netflix knows all about it, and it doesn't matter if it's not true. It's just bad marketing. If they announced a second season twitter and such would be alight with "Netflix greenlights pedo show". The simple problem is that in this day and age, there in no forgetting or letting go because the internet will always remind others. Anytime someone comes along liking the show the immediate comment is about the scandal and they're turned away from it. And of course they like to post that shoeonhead video about the whole ordeal.
