What I don't get is why, King in Black is scheduled for December and Empyre ends in September. Seems unnecessary to tease an event that has nothing to do with Empyre months in advance. Though thankfully this isn't considered part of the event proper like said.

I mean it's already well saturated, there's no weeks in between Empyre and X of Swords, and only one between Empyre and King in Black, doing this basically makes the schedule even tighter and I'm not sure people actually will respond positively to this. I guess it's a way to keep the Venom camp entertaines, but piggybacking off an event they have nothing to do with is pretty weak.

It's still an event but it's not linewide, you're partially right. It still has its own schedule and one-shots, even if it doesn't cross over with anything else. Empyre and King in Black are linewide, even though most of Empyre's issues are tie-ins created specifically for the event.
