Is it bad that I love TOS and TNG but I'm unironically looking forward to Star Trek: Lower Decks?

I'm in the same boat but I'm not expecting it to be good. I have exactly zero expectations, because I've been wanting a more comedy focused Star Trek for a while but this does look cheap and the brand hasn't been respected since "they" took it over.

I can't explain why, but part of me is convinced there'll be one episode that's not quite Inner Light tier, but more than makes up for the other 9 episodes of meh to trash.

Pressed against those black breasts

Yesteryear? I bet it was Yesteryear.

"They" being CBS or Alex Kurtzman?

Kurtzman and the other producers. They don't care Star Trek is just yet another brand that has recognition to them. That's why I'm pretty sure this show is going to be made as cheaply as possible and full of propaganda.

Yes

I'm a fan of TNG and DS9, and I also look forward to this. JJ movies were glib and STD/Picard were dumb, but it would be okay for this to be both of those things because it's a comedy. It also looks like it will be mostly self contained episodes. That's the way to go for Trek.

If you want “sensible chuckle-worthy Star Trek” just watch Orville.

So far
>it's something different
Is as much as I need going for it. I can't begin to list the things I'd rather watch than what STD and "Patrick Steward's finally actually old": the series, featuring things you will recognize.

Not that it automatically will wins points after all's said and done. But Jesus fuck it's been around 15 years now since anyone tried to make anything new with Star Trek to have the capacity to be an endearing new favorite.

I'm going to go tell /trek/ on you!

Nothing looks good bout this show except T'ana. They just need to make her a badass doc, and deadly serious in a crisis, but always trolling for some dick when she gets a chance due to botched hormone therapy when she was younger to suppress periodic estrus in medical school to study better that had the opposite effect: full-time randiness.

This. I hate Seth and even I have to admit he did a good job getting the Star Trek feel down.

Yeah I saw a commercial today and despite the fact I’m tired of this artstyle, it doesn’t look like it’ll be too bad

Hope S3 is around the corner

>I hate Seth
Imagine being jelly of some guy who's made success by ripping off other shows lol.

Meh, it looks like a shitty R&M clone.

Waiting with bated breath for that one episode with her subplot and the moderate surge of fanart afterwards.

This. The first couple episodes are a bit on the weak side and it’s no TNG or DS9, but on average it’s easily Voyager-tier Trek with a few more jokes.

I don’t want anything new, I want something that nails the spirit of TNG and DS9 instead of all the Star Wars-lite and edgy drama that all the new trash is

I want to help her learn how to love again.

She is literally my only interest in this otherwise shitty show. They knew what they were doing when they added her instead of another boring human.

>Only other nonhumans in the cast are a sex-positive female and one of (((them)))

>that message
>those trips
Based and wholesomepilled!

A green-skinned white girl still basically counts as human. Cat people are different enough to be interesting.

Do you think that the show will ever go into T'Ana's life and how she changed from pic related to what she is now?

I don't blame you. JJ and Kurtzman have all but killed ST as a serious franchise. If a silly cartoon is all that's left, hey. It's not Star Wars.

Yes. The porn will be the only good thing to come of this.

She realized she was about to be in a cash grab show of what used to be a serious sci-fi franchise.

No
If it was only new Trek or there was actually decent Trek, maybe it would be bad, but now its different

She probably put her whole life on hold to become a medic...then got assigned to the shit-tier sector of Starfleet service.

Not like Trek wasn't always a progressive vision of the future. Well, not until DS9 turned it in to a war epic and Voyager went all Lord of the Tamarian Space Flies.
