Hey remember in Marvel when an unstable narcissistic billionaire from New York with bad hair was put into a high ranking government position with no qualifications whatsoever and no input from the American people and he put all his evil friends in positions of power too and conspired with a foreign government(Lateveria) and this was a literal Dark Reign over the country and the Marvel Universe?
And then they did it again when Wilson Fisk became Mayor of New York. Just how unrealistic can these writers be?
Landon Price
Wtf I love Dark Reign now
Wyatt Hernandez
Osborn, iirc.
Jaxson Ramirez
That's Stormin Norman
Joshua Rivera
Comics are to political these days
Tyler Fisher
The difference is that Norman is actually a successful businessman.
Dylan Butler
Superheroes have always been political. You can't write a story about crime-fighting without that relating in some way to the government, because criminal law is something decided on by the government, and usually enforced by the government.
Wyatt Hall
Dark Reign holds a special place in my heart. I just started getting into comics with Ultimate Spider-Man and then Dark Reign occurred. As someone who adores Osborn, it truly was a wild ride with some insane character moments.
I remember when people on this board were speculating the identity of Iron Patriot. I was personally banking on Luke Cage (repaying his debt to Osborn for finding his kid). Shame he's a man of no honor and and told Osborn to fuck himself. Nothing mroe than a massive hypocrite
What happens when you are fighting aliens and ghosts, dumb fuck? Is that political too?
Henry Morales
I'd vote for Stormin Norman. No shame. Dude may be bonkers, but he does get results (to a degree).
Ethan Turner
>Bendis is such a hack huh? Yes
Nicholas Green
I don't know what the politics of ghost stories are, but when Superheroes fight aliens, that's explicitly political. The aliens are outsiders, "alien", and they are often invading, necessitating some kind of rallying of the forces of earth to meet the threat. Governments pretty much always play some part in those stories, and those stories always have political implications. You think "Independence Day" isn't political? It's literally called "Independence Day" and features a US led coalition at the end against Aliens that have spent the early part of the movie blowing up our nationally important places.
Evan Morris
>What happens when you are fighting aliens and ghosts
I'd never thought i'd see this much xenophobia and necrophobia together in one place! You shouldn't be allowed to fight anything! Fighting is just an expression of racism and deep seated agner issues anyways. We should just hold hands together and sing!
I hate you "everything is political" assholes because you'll use any logic at your disposal to twist something to fit your definition. And you're not doing this for any sort of actual comic discussion, you're doing this so that you can do Zig Forumsshit on other boards. You and your ilk are transparent, fuck off.
Jack Rodriguez
>Bendis is such a hack huh? I actually consider Dark Avengers to be one of Bendis' better works. It's nowhere near Ellis's issues, but I feel like Bendis has a better handle on Osborn than Ellis. Half of the fun of Dark Reign was the context. OSborn's putting his best foot forward in establishing his Avengers team and for the most part they played their roles. Osborn's speech at the end of the series is definitely one of Bendis' better dialogs.
Hot take but I loved the Bendis era at Marvel (Disassembled thru AvX). Shit was fun, and it felt natural and planned
Kayden Gutierrez
Why are you getting mad and swearing, I literally just said that stories about vigilante crime-fighting are inherently political, and they are. You can get as angry as you want, but this stuff has been in comics since the time Superman was intimidating lobbyists. Do you actually mean politics is the problem, or is it just "politics I don't like"?
common sense isn't political until contrarian cranks get on its case
Brody Fisher
This means nothing.
Bentley Flores
I'm just sick of you faggots on every single board with your "everything is political" mantra. Everything is made of elements, I guess everything is chemical! Time to post the periodical table in every thread! Woo!
this thread is literally four fuckin years late, what are you doing with your life?
Luis Green
I didn't say everything is political. I said superheroes are political. They've been political for longer than you've been alive.
Kevin Long
Superheroes has been always political, the difference between then and now is the quality of the writing for the new stories.
Lincoln Ward
It's just a bullshit catch-all statement. I'm sure you'll do mental gymnastics to explain how Dr Strange fighting demons in the astral plane actually symbolizes the government fighting terrorists or some bullshit.
Landon Cooper
This. Political stories can be good when there aren't hacks writing them.
Colton Thomas
>what are you doing with your life Making bait threads on Zig Forums, I mean obviously.
Julian Thomas
Agreed. I hate Bendis but I hated him least during Dark Reign. It least allowed room for better creators to explore ramifications of a line wide topsy turvy social order. Secret Warriors and all the mini's like Bullseye as Hawkeye and Gargan as Spider-Man, Joe Casey's Zodiak, the Hood, Young Avengers featuring the Young Masters... It was a neat time.
William Cruz
The Norman vs Tony stuff in Fraction's Iron Man was cool too I loved that the first thing Norman did when he sat down in his office was look in the database for Spider-Man's identity
Ryan Hall
BOB! STOP THE BEAT!!
Angel Torres
No user, stop, a dude called Captain America fighting a dude called Flag-Smasher isn't political and you're a bullshit social justice cultist, somehow.
