Why was Life of Brian hated by many while Kenny Dies had a more positive reception? Both of them dealt with a main character getting killed off.
Why was Life of Brian hated by many while Kenny Dies had a more positive reception...
Brian is a character people want to see stay dead
Because you knew South Park was gonna be ironic.
FG tried to be unironic and pretentious.
How long did they stay dead?
There's your answer. Brian's death was just a stunt so they could get people watching the show.
Kenny's was treated as a real death (for a LONG while)
Brian was a shitty marketing stunt to get people to care about family guy again.
They brought him back a few episodes later, making the whole stunt shallow and meaningless.
Kenny dying was just a giant joke since he had died almost every episode up to that point.
Family guy was way too up their own ass about trying to deal with a serious issue, while South Park mocked the whole concept.
Brian is way too unlikable to feel sympathy for. They expect us to feel sorry for a guy who:
>Abandoned his son
>Intentionally gave a baby herpes
>Left his mother and siblings to die
>Lies over women just to get laid
>Lusts over his friends wives
>Wants to have sex with High School girls
>Never pays back
>Is an Atheist despite meeting Jesus several times
>Kills people
>Thinks he's better than others
Kenny is shit too since he's a gag character with no defying personality traits, but at least he's not this bad.
A:With family guy it was just a publicity stunt. He dies then comes back a few episodes later. With south park, it was originally planned to be permanent (at the very least it stuck for an entire season), partially because originally it was gonna be Kyle that died (hence why Stan was the focus of the episode, also the two of them were practically interchangeable at that point in the show aside from Kyle's jewishness and health issues)
B: There's a meta aspect to kenny's death (He dies every episode up to that point, so wouldn't it be something if there was an entire episode devoted to his death and then it sticks?) Brian's death was once again purely a publicity stunt with no real substance behind it. (Didn't Seth make fun of that guy who got a tattoo commemorating Brian?)
I love Life of Brian
I wish when people say Monty Python they don't default to the Holy Grail
They have many movies!
Because brian is a horrific abusive monster, and i wish he'd stay dead. Kenny is awesome and loves his sister and protects the town.
Beat me to it
Kenny’s death was the entire episode, whereas Brian dies in the first few minutes, then they move on.
Kenny’s death was treated with respect for the character, while Brian’s was not
Because South Park at its worst is leagues better than Family Guy at its best.
Family Guy gets higher ratings
Brian is a self insert of Seth Macfarlane, when you write a character in an episode like this it feels so faggy
Kenny's was just a fucked up joke considering we've seen him die so much already, it also opened up a lot of ideas with the 4th main character actually being a character, Butter and Tweek were great. I hate nu Tweek so god damn much
Kenny dying was common and they were actually planning on going through him veing dead for good till they found out fans actually liked him. Plus they didnt write themsleves in a corner since he could come back at any time.
The character that was used to replace him became a main stay.
Also when he came back he was used very little but all the episodes he was used in made good on his character.
Plus it was a whole episode with very little gags tied to it.
I dont watch family guy but from what I hear, they did none of that.
>Kenny is shit too since he's a gag character with no defying personality traits
You fucking take that back
Kenny became best boy after he came back to life. He's been shown as an extremely kind older brother, works hard at City Wok to earn extra money for his dirt poor family, accompanies Butters find his roots as a native Hawaiian when no one else would, he even moonlights as a superhero for South Park. Kenny's arguably the closest thing South Park has to an upstanding citizen.
He's still "dead". When was the last time he was a major character? South Park doesn't feel like South Park anymore.
Absolutley correct, he was also playing a superhero before it was a thing all the kids did and he spends alot of time as a superhero protecting his sister and forcing his parents to be better people. and it also added the fact that he knows he dies, and that he has alot of reservasions about it.
>major
I can count the amount of episodes hes had with both hands and still have an extra finger left.
>When was the last time he was a major character?
About 5 years ago just before Fractured But Whole
>Brian is a self insert of Seth Macfarlane
That is really fucking worrying to me when you consider this and you realize how much of shitty character Brian is. Actually, why didn’t they keep that faggot dog dead? His replacement was played by none other than Tony Sirico, Paulie Motherfucking Walnuts, who was a better character than Brian even though he was only in a couple of episodes
S22E05 - The Scoots was a Kenny episode, that was 2 years ago.
MAJOR character, not SIDE character
That episode Mackie is more of main character than Kenny
City wok then
Or that chicken magic the gathering episode, whichever came first.
>MAJOR
>main
Getting mixed signals user, but I'll leave you to your goal post moving autism. That is like saying the episode where Kenny dies and goes to heaven to defeat the armies of Hell just because other characters happen to be part of the process of getting him there.
Like saying it isn't a kenny episode*
Reminder that Family Guy has greatly improved over the last few years while South Park has seen a huge decline since they started having serialized plots and making Randy the focus. FG toned down on the gore and mostly focuses on surreal humor, meme humor and more interesting plots.
>Left his mother and siblings to die
Literally never happened. Brian was taken away from his family at the farm and he tried to reunite with them for years, only to discover that his mother passed away. Also, Brian's parents were very nice and loved him dearly compared to Kenny's parents who fight all the time, are abusive towards their children and do nothing but drink and do drugs.
>Intentionally gave a baby herpes
Kenny Intentionally gave his friends Chickenpox and the whole town diarrhea. Not to mention that he is riddled with diseases like herpes, syphilis, lice and cold sore.
I know you South Parkfags love to talk shit towards us Family Guy Chads, but you can't point fingers when your show is guilty of worse shit.
BRIAN GRIFFIN OUR DOG IS DEAD
This is such a funny fucking reference dude. You should write for Family Guy you're so creative.
>chicken pox
I thought the parents planned that out so thier kids could get immunity or some shit.
>gave the whole town diarrhea
You talking about the brown note
He immediatly faced karmic retribution by dying from it
>riddled with diseases
Pretty sure that shit goes away the moment he dies from it or anything else
And besides were talking about post death shit everyone knows pre season 6 south park kids were assholes to the highest degree.
