Yet another issue with this show came to me suddenly.
In the pilot we are established that Luz is unpopular in her school because she's too weird and quirky for her own good, and yet in the boiling isles, she makes friends just fine? You would think that her struggling to make friends would be an issue she deals with at least early on, but she just charms everyone with little effort.
I don't want to mention a certain show, but the last Disney cartoon about a girl trapped in a weird world did have episodes where they dealt with the protagonist's twisted perspective on friendship that brought her trouble in her normal life.
You cant even say that Luz works because the boiling isles is as weird as her, there's nothing that odd about Willow or Luz, and yet they are now her bffs. Kinda goes against what was established about our protagonist

You're right that Luz fits in and does a good job making friends. I'd say it's an issue with the pilot more than the show though. Looking at the episodes Luz is just an eccentric geek, not really the socially-awkward autist we were told she was in the show's first few minutes. The pilot tells me she's an outcast but she's pretty socially aware in the show. Pilots always have some small details that the writers leave behind in the actual show. I'm pretty sure the human-only barrier won't get an explanation either
