EVERYONE is growing increasingly single, childless, and depressed in their 30s. For every straight woman who isn't married, there's a straight man who isn't married.

Some guys are really wrapped up in the fantasy that the girls who turned them down are going to get ugly and old (age 30) and come crawling back on their knees.

I have this strange sense of societal schadenfreude from the idea that people will grow increasingly distant from each other and too busy and economically unstable to settle down, so that nobody has kids and we all die out. There's some kind of irony there that I find hilarious.

This is where I'm mixed on the whole thing. On the one hand I think that we should all accept that the baby boom was an anomaly and that there's no reason we should expect explosive birth rates to continue into infinity. We should be okay with birth rates rising and falling in waves.

On the other hand, the way birth rates are falling right now is a sign that the conditions for having kids are worse than they used to be a few decades ago, and we should definitely remedy that situation. A lot of people aren't having kids because they don't think they'll have the time, money or energy to raise them. It's funny how people always shit talked poor people with lots of kids, saying "If you can't afford kids don't have them." But now that more people are making the responsible decision that they can't afford kids so they won't have them, people think the sky is falling and try to blame SJWs or feminism or atheism or whatever causing society to rot.
