here are your three jokers
>The biggest one that we did was with the Golden Age Joker, we called him 'the Criminal Joker.' And he's the one that doesn't really smile. And that kind of goes back to Batman #1 in 1940, where there are these creepy panels where he's not smiling and then there are creepy panels with big grins and whatnot. We chose to really lock in on the not smiling part, and it's so much creepier. It's a cold calculating version of the Joker and he's a criminal mastermind. It's just a very different feeling to the Joker.

>Then we have 'the Clownish Joker' as we call him. He's like the classic Joker from the '40s and '50s, and so everything with him is brighter, louder, and a lot cornier - like the big gags that would happen in the '50s comic books, those kinds of things that were a lot of fun. We touch on a lot of those and tip our hat to some of those moments from the classic comic books in the '50s and '60s, especially.
>Then you have your modern age Joker, who we call 'the Comedian Joker.' He's The Killing Joke joker. He's very psychotic and just evil. He's always smiling and cackling. I played up a lot on that with the way that Brian Bolland drew him in those classic books.

What's the purpose on doing 3 different Jokers if they look and act almost the same?
>Criminal Joker doesn't really Smile but he actually does.
>Clownish Joker is Based Joker
>Comedian Joker is Based Joker but more evil.
Retard Johns should've gone movie road style. Have a Joker like Nicholson (Clownish/Criminal), have a Joker like Ledger (Chaotic/Terrorist) and then have Leto's Joker like (Edgy/Try-Hard).
it's based off of Joker's history in comics, not the movies. 40s and 50s joker is fundamentally different from edgy killing joke joker.
Didn’t Riddler once bitch about this?
Too bad this three Jokers don't look and act that different tho. At least with the movie ones you can actually see they're different in personality and clothing, something that Johns failed to do here so far.
By the way, why don't make this just with 2 Jokers? The Edgy One vs The Classic One. It would've been easier to make them different.
They already fucked up. Should have been Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, and New 52/Rebirth. All they've done is make it so that one of the good Jokers went through with cutting off his face and all the other shitty Snyder stuff.
You can't see the differences? It's pretty easy to tell. Slight differences in hair, facial expression, clothing color
the sequel is gonna be 5 Jokers, adding:
>Society Joker
>Damaged Joker
What is the 'Golden Age' in this context? I thought the 40s and 50s were the Golden Age.
I think the original plan was to have Snyder new 52 joker be one of them. In the interview he says this was supposed to be the arc on justice league after Darkseid War but then new 52 ended
golden age joker, in this context, is the first few appearances of joker, when he didn't really have the same personality he had.
>Slight differences
>SLIGHT
If that's the most you can do with this shit
of a concept then don't fucking do it. They're basically recolored skins, you delusional.
isn't that kind of the point? Batman's never been able to tell them apart because they all kind of look the same except for minor stuff you wouldn't notice unless paying attention
For fuck sake I forgot that this concept was originated by having Batman as a legit retard, my bad.
This shit falls apart when you have one Joker running around without a face
That seems so stupid. So the 'Golden Age' lasted a year or so?
Bravo, Geoff! You've brilliantly contextualized the Joker's history in a way no other writer has, as yet, been able. Just, wow.
Criminal Joker is much more distinct from the Clownish and Comedian Joker.
Based on what little we've seen, he seems more like a mastermind and less crazy than the other two.
Clownish and Comedian Joker feel like the same character, one is more edgy and insane than the other.
How the fuck did he not know this?
Clownish Joker represents silver age Joker, when he wasn't necessarily a killer but he did goofy gags and shit like that.
What gets me is the ignorance of Bronze age 70s Joker, which is where I think the genesis of KJ joker starts. Laughing Fish, Five Way Revenge, etc.
Yeah I don't mind criminal. I'd make 'clownish' significantly less violent and more wacky. Like he's all about dumb clown themed crimes (Joker fish, historical boners, appearing on an Amercian Idol type stand-up show by holding a station hostage, etc...) and being funny is the most important part of his schtick. Then you can have edgy joker being the one obsessed with Batman and being a much more deranged/homicidal killer.
So, in this ideal scheme:
>Clownish just wants to joke around because it's fun, doesn't kill anyone and it's harmless.
>Comedian is obsessed with Batman, Kills and damages everything he can to get close to him.
How does Criminal fit into all this? I suppose he just wants to take over Gotham like any other mob boss?
If you throw Criminal Joker away, maybe this could work better.
I feel like Criminal Joker makes the whole concept works, a serious Joker who has more grounded plans is a contrast to the other two.
What I'm really interested in knowing is if the Jokers know about each other.
This is why people like BTAS Joker. He's a composite of all three without being confusing.
how much do you wanna bet Johns is going to literalize the ending of Killing Joke here (this story is in response to that after all - he seems to be doing a thing of responding to Moore's body of work), and that he's going to kill the joker? Fabok said the ending, if DC will allow them, will have huge consequences for continuity
But you already have a serious/edgy Joker, it's the Comedian one.
One's a gangster, the other is pure psychopath
>All the Jokers die EXCEPT the Clownish Joker.
Please let it happen, It would be Based as fuck.
BUT since the 3 Jokers will probably die anyway, how do you think they will do it?
>Criminal Joker dies in a shootout with Red Hood, Sunny Corleone Style.
>Clownish Joker tries to escape from Batgirl but ends up breaking his neck thanks to a banana peel. Turns out he survived tho but can't move his body.
>Comedian Joker has Batman trying to kill him, but an Angry Gotham Mob ends up Killing him instead.
So that makes them completly different I see...
