Calling a child rapist a pedophile is missing the point
Statistically there's a small chance of a child rapist being a pedophile, but more often than not they aren't
There's a much bigger likelihood of child rapist being sociopathic types that have developed a sexuality that involves children due to either convenience or the fact that they are easier to hurt and coerce. People that rape others don't do it out of sexual attraction for the person / their gender, they do it as a way to enact power over someone else, as an expression of that power. And children are the ultimate victim, because raping them has large consequences so it feels extra good to these people.
You wouldn't stop child rape by pedophile outing themselves. In fact you wouldn't even stop child porn rings, because they aren't managed by pedophiles, and their audience aren't necessarily pedophiles.
Pedophiles are just an easy scapegoat for child rapist. Most pedophiles are high functioning and would not actually commit the act because they know better.
