Doom didn't BTFO anyone. He just made a self-important statement with holes in it, and it just went unchallenged because people were busy. The mutants and X-Men teamed up against him, humiliated him and pointed out that he was just abusing mutants for his own gain.

As it stands, Deadpool not having a gate for his possible mutants would be the writer's fault, because the X-Men have been accepting of a lot of mutants, even the shittier ones. That's the whole point, they're working together to survive. The offer extends to non-mutant family members, like parents, Shogo, and Northstar's husband.

Also, having closed borders and being selective isn't exactly fascism. And if anything, the mutants have too much freedom, since they only have three easy-to-follow rules.

So either Deadpool is intentionally written as being uninformed, or Thompson doesn't know shit about what she's doing again.
