I want to stomp on this little faggot and see his lifeless eyeballs bulging out of his pathetic little skull.

Old west is just cooler.

I thought the crazy spider was both cool and freaky, I remember whenever he appeared he freaked me out.

Hell yeah it was. If only The Land Before Time had a sequel of this quality.

The first one was too dark and depressing. The sequel was more lighthearted.

>A sequel to a Don Bluth movie without Don's involvement
>It's actually good

All 80s Bluth films are like that. I like them for straying away a little from Disney's cutesy formula, to be honest.

>there are four of these films

Cowboys are cool

Other movies had more girls

Anyone else watch the sequel first? It was at least a decade until I finally saw the first one, wasn't nearly as good as the sequel.

I grew up with the sequel and not the first one, but watching them as an adult I prefer the original.

quantity isn't quality

I think it's just a matter of taste, I prefer the original's more serious tone and find the sequel a bit too strange at times.

The sequel fleshes out Fievel and his desire to be free as a cowboy makes sense.

because jimmy stewart was in it

I liked both for different reasons. The first one scared the shit out of me as a kid but still loved it but I'd always prefer to watch the sequel when I was a kid and probably melted the VHS tape on how many times I rewatched it. God I need to set down and rewatch them some day.

The second one is definitely more rewatchable than the first, that's why I believe it's more entertaining.

Artistically the first one is better but in terms of pure entertainment the second one is superior.

I hated the first one as a kid, and I hate it now. As a kid I didn't understand the subject matter as a European. Now, I hate it because emotionally scarring, constantly scary cartoons with cute characters and annoying humor aimed for kids are trash. Land before Time did it WAY better.

I think the first Fieval literally has no target audience.

its because of people like you we have carbon copies of Life of Pets as a standard.
>boo hoo it scared me as a child
embarrassing.

I recently caught some of the first one on a stream. It was already halfway over when I came in, but this was the first I'd seen of the movie in over a decade and I was surprised how mature it was, and I think it holds up very well. I feel it captured the spirit of late 19th century America very well though in a way that I didn't pick up on as a kid. I also just realized then that they were supposed to represent Jews.

Serious question, what is it about Don Bluth movies that made children so viscerally uncomfortable? I really fucking hated that cat.

The second one's plot is pedestrian as fuck. I can understand why kids like it, but the first one is much more succinct. Dreams to Dream is great song, though.

The correct answer.

Post moar thicc cat.

yes it is. in the first movie Fievel is less a character and more like a pinball that gets bounced around a whole bunch in this really boring story that's end just feels rushed and incredibly fucking weird.

in terms of pacing, characterization, storytelling, music and especially levity, Goes West completely destroys the first movie. and it's beautifully animated, maybe even one of the best looking traditionally done movies ever made.
