the funds from kickstarter were never enough to fund EIGHT games, maybe just 2 or so. Of course, Hussie got screwed over and at that point it was barely enough to fund ONE. Then Hiveswap 1 didn't make enough money post-launch (because anyone who was even remotely interested funded the kickstarter), so they literally didn't have enough resources to fund a second game.
Interest is waning because Homestuck doesn't have its rapid update schedule anymore so even the budget Ren'py games aren't selling enough to funnel money towards Hiveswap 2, and the epilogue fucking sucks so they're eeking by on the Patreonbux from that.
It's a real clusterfuck and I feel bad, they'd probably have to make a new kickstarter to get 8 games done.
