The Kree recognized that humans have the potential for developing super-powers and they wanted to exploit that. So they grabbed a couple of humans, genetically engineered them (some say with Eternal DNA, but that seems unlikely; the Kree can't contend with Eternals; it seems more likely they used the inherently unstable genes of Deviants, which would explain why no two Inhumans look alike) to live longer, and to trigger their innate super powers with Terrigen instead of by some unpredictable natural factor, like with mutants or 'normal' superhumans like Spider-Man.

But ultimately the source of these powers is all the same: Celestial tampering.

I want to see this from the perspective of a guy in a comparatively unagile and vulnerable plane go up against actual gods.
