As a teacher myself I don't really like that they're always shown as unsympathetic, cruel, careless, vindictive or otherwise too flawed to realistically be teaching. I guess maybe the standards are far lower in the US than where I live but honestly it seems like if American teachers are already having trouble, teaching kids to hate/disrespect teachers via cartoons is an extra hurdle that nobody needs.
Thankfully there isn't the same lack of respect here as always shown in American media, but we do get some of the cartoons here and it's not a real example to set in any case. I wish they'd mix it up and show more supportive, capable teachers who really care and want to make a positive difference instead of being an antagonist or "lame adult" stereotype. The vast majority of my colleagues are the exact opposite of the cartoon clichés.
I also keep up with some of the youtubers that the kids like so I know what interests them, and so many of them talk shit about teachers and how all the teachers they ever had were bad. Again, especially those from the US that the older students watch, like Game Grumps. I don't for a second believe every teacher in the states is terrible at their job, but that's how they make it seem.
It's not encouraging, anyway.
