Still receiving comics and books for Frozen on different markets at a decent pace, however the world and characters seem to be stuck, likely because they can't do much until the animation team does something to establish what's actually going on with those.
What is a good way to move the story forward? And in what format? Shorts, a series, a sequel?
Still receiving comics and books for Frozen on different markets at a decent pace...
I think a sequel is very likely, given how much money they made.
I think a way to help move the story forward is by making the world more interesting, so far Frozen's world has remained very small, at least on the big screen.
which is frustrating considering the effort they made to expand the world in novels and comics
They have to move the story beyond Arendelle and its backyard, as other user said
Introducing a villain would be nice too
I don't think they can do much with shorts but a series would be dope
yes, shorts are good for funny little low-stake adventures, but you can't do much story-wise with those, at most they can make the Kristanna wedding into a short.
>so far Frozen's world has remained very small, at least on the big screen.
"How are we going to expand Frozen's world for the sequel?"
"I'm thinking there's a relatively small, boring forest about an hour away from Arendelle."

"Also a water horse lives there."
"Whew! Had me nervous for a second there."
cute pic
>Shorts
We have already had a series of shorts but shorts, be they twenty seconds or twenty minutes, is not long enough to address all the gaps in Frozen II.
>a series
Series are the ideal form of storytelling nowadays, but Disney and many other studios still see television as a lesser venue than cinema. Which is true, as movies have global campaigns and series aren't as stringent on marketing and translation. Frozen is too big of a cash cow to push to series.
>a sequel
This is really the only route it can go, but we better pray Lee is cut loose from Disney before she fucks about again. How many times can you restate the moral of embracing oneself?
Disney is the only ones who are allowed to move the world "forward". But the side material still manages to tell excellent stories while staying in place.
The trouble is, they've released very little of that side material (in English, at least) so we're not moving forwards OR sideways. We're just stuck. And being stuck feels worse than it has to, because they created a million unanswered questions with Frozen 2's ending.
as you say, there's very little in English but the franchise is anything but dormant nowadays across the globe
The English market has been left in a sad 3rd? 4th? 5th place?
Disney needs to decide what the new status quo is to allow all the various formats to push the story any further. The following questions need to be answered: wtf is Elsa? What does she do? How far away is she from anna? What is the nature of their relationship now and how often do they see each other? As anyone who has been around these threads knows the movie doesn't provide any clarity on this.
Until Disney makes up their mind about these things the story is pretty much stuck. I think the best solution would be a short that explores these questions in a way that provides a stable status quo and that allows more content to be made.
>INTO THE UNKNOOOOOWN
>the forest is like half an hour away from Arendelle
The last thread ended before I could discuss Halima Hudson. Something is fishy. Somebody said that she was an assistant on features like Big Hero 6, but that came from a Disney Animation Studios wiki (they have that, and it's kinda pathetic). Her IMDB page doesn't show nearly as many credits. We are talking like four. One for "Players", one for assistant to the writer for A Wrinkle in Time (which was Jennifer Lee), one for Ralph Breaks the Internet, and two for Frozen II. Was she only hired from her friendship with Lee? Is she a diversity hire? Is she Lee's black bag? The title of "creative relations" just seems like something you pull out of your ass to legitimize someone's paycheck.
>shorts, be they twenty seconds or twenty minutes, is not long enough to address all the gaps in Frozen II
I'm with you on that one.
A short might not move the story forward, but it will give us much needed clarity on what's the world's current status.
>likely because they can't do much until the animation team does something to establish what's actually going on with those
>Disney needs to decide what the new status quo is to allow all the various formats to push the story any further
I think that's exactly it. We're not the only ones waiting to know what the fuck the ending means. All the authors, animators, and artists are too. There can be no progress in any direction until Disney clarifies where everyone stands. And they've been infuriatingly silent.
Just ONE short, with a good look at Elsa's new "job" and seeing what Queen Anna's rule looks like, would be a massive help. Right now, all the players are up in the air. Putting them down into a new routine would allow for so much storytelling. But so far, Disney isn't telling.
Reading this again, this is even funnier now since the books actually have started calling them both Queen of Arendelle.
Yes, because what else are they going to do? They don't know what the fuck is Elsa doing now.
>so far, Disney isn't telling
but they have told us. the story has inched forward, and in those tiny moments, everyone but Elsa looks fucking miserable.
this is their OFFICIAL stance on what the ending means: everyone loses so Elsa can ride her pony.
Answering as Lee:
>wtf is Elsa?
Don't know
>What does she do?
Don't care
>How far away is she from anna?
Far enough but they're next-door neighbors and Anna is Queen now.
>What is the nature of their relationship now and how often do they see each other?
They're closer than ever now that Anna's queen. Did I mention that Anna is queen now and that's all that matters?
>Shorts, a series, a sequel?
Can I ask for all three?
It's not like Frozen isn't making them a gazillion dollars
Anna's title of "Queen" is only slightly more meaningful than Elsa's title of "Fifth Snow Bridge Spirit Queen"...but only because we have some of idea of what a Queen does in the first place. They certainly haven't told us.
I think the best course of action would be
>a short in 2021
>a series in 2022-2024
>a second short in 2025
>a sequel in 2026
Hell, if it weren't for Kai introducing her, we wouldn't even know she was queen. We'd just think she was dressed nicely for the unveiling of the statue.
I don't understand why they're holding back this much. We should be drowning in Frozen merchandise.
I want Frozen videogames. I want Frozen dolls. I want Frozen ASMR videos. I want Frozen face masks and hand sanitizer. WHERE THE FUCK IS ALL MY FROZEN?!
Is this what blue balls feels like!?
>>a series in 2022-2024
A two-season series? No, no, no, my friend. Five seasons. AT LEAST.
That sounds like a 3-season series
>2022
>2023
>2024
It should have as many seasons as the Simpsons
>tfw no Frozen ketchup
>hand sanitizer
Here you go. Use this to wash your hands of mistreating your family like Elsa does.
Disney killed their main vidya department ages ago, and they don't seem to be licensing much except for star wars and mobile shit.
>Is this what blue balls feels like!?
Close. I'd say it would be more like Disney saying they are making all these things and then changing their mind right before they are due to release. What you're describing is more like inceldom, everything you want just isn't made available.
Both suck. A lot.
You could easily miss that line and miss that she's Queen completely. Daily reminder that we didn't even get to see her coronation, even though her sister and her dead dad both prominently got theirs displayed.
If only they translated half the shit they're releasing
Agnarr only had a portrait of his corob5in one scene.
What I don't understand is why Disney+ even exists if not to promote their biggest franchises with shows?
Star Wars got the Mandalorian. The MCU is getting multiple series. But nothing for their #1 animated franchise? There is a huge hole in their catalog.
>corob5in
Coronation goddammit
I'd be happy with a short to establish a new status quo and then comics or a series
Yes, and that's still more than Anna got.
And yet I keep seeing people claim that Anna is everyone's favorite character at WDAS. How can that be true when she was so utterly robbed?
I would honestly be happier if we knew they were coming, but they released a statement saying "due to corona-chan, they are delayed indefinitely".
At least we'd know they are working on more. Anything is better than this silence.
again, the franchise isn't silent. europe is getting new stuff nearly every week
If you believe the rumor that Frozen II was going to kill off Elsa, Olaf, and Arendelle, then you can believe that they didn't have enough time to go back and redo the coronation scene for a more uplifting tone. Before the coronation was probably somber, bittersweet, and showed Arendelle being rebuilt. Olaf wasn't supposed to be there- he didn't have concept art of his outfit in the art book whereas Sven did. The team had to spend the last few minutes focusing on recorded-at-home Elsa shown that she is "in her element". It didn't sell to most audiences, but they had to appease Iger.
Do you really want Frozen whored out with shows like Wandavision about every single character?
