Disneybux
How is marvel still profitable while D.C. isn't?
AT&T is much, much bigger than Disney.
Turns out pandering to the lowest common denominator of zoomers and youngsters worked just it did for Anime
It is?
The layoffs don't have to do with DC themselves.
The new president of Warnermedia is restructuring the company and fired 800 people across all their brands, DC including. This has to do with the soft launch of HBO Max, Covid, and their massive debt.
Not to mention, Marvel fired a bunch of writers too.
This is why Zig Forums shouldn't talk about business, you're all a bunch of stupid manchildren.
The comics aren't, only the movies are.
seems like super heroes are becoming less prominent more and more
The comic division of both Marvel and DC are profitable
well actually they have its how Marvel determines who's ready for a film miles is actually getting ready to shed the spider man title because of the confidence marvel has in him
They're basically just glorified story boarding at this point
Not really.
>Why is marvel surviving where D.C. is Dying?
Marvel recently cancelled 10 of their books and Disney furloughed thousands of works a month and a half ago.
Wrong
user comics are just testing groups for what characters to adapt the movie is the adaptations
I’m a government employee in the Midwest and my salary would make the average Marvel/DC writer/artist blush. Imagine being paid burger flipping wages to write books for characters that are household names.
it's almost like comicsgate are full of shit
AGAIN that is book store channel which is a small fraction compared to the direct market
>Direct market
Marvel overships, publishes two much times more books than DC AND got a better deal with Diamond. Under those conditions, they HAVE too have the DM.
However, when the books are sold in trades, rather than in floppies, people simply stop buying Marvel and just buy DC.
no, DC rely entirely upon about 10 books to keep their trade market afloat. The Killing Joke, Watchmen, Sandman and a bunch of other Batbooks. They suck at soliciting stuff and thus we end up with the same book being solicited and canceled a half a dozen times before they either print the fucking thing or cancel it for good.
>AGAIN that is book store channel which is a small fraction compared to the direct market
Both direct market and bookstores moved $500 million in 2019. They are about the same size now.
But bookstores are more profitable.
DCeased, Harleen, Doomsday Clock and Superman Smashes the Klan are selling better than some of the old "evergreens".
Notice how Marvel disappears in the bookstore market.
Either Marvel fans only buy floppies but dislike buying trades for some bizarre reason, or Marvel forces the hand of the DM to order their books way above the demand of the final consumer.
DC cleaning house is a good thing you stupid faggots
Disney is actually bleeding more money and fired more employees (the parks shut downs lost them billions)but Marvel movies made a gorillion dollars and their comics are a proven IP farm in their eyes so its unlikely to get overhauled like DC was
>miles is actually getting ready to shed the spider man title because of the confidence marvel has in him
Can't wait to see it crash and burn.
I'd love to see a dollar break down of these. That HoX/PoX is 3 times anything else on the list. I know Omnis and Absolutes don't more a huge quantity but the dollar amount of them is way bigger. And with Marvel reprinting all of Claremont Uncanny X-Men omni this and next year that would be a good chunk of change.
Turns out you guys are the only ones weird enough to care if your comic characters are black. Who could have seen this coming?
Ike won't let Disney kill marvel comics
Because the Marvel cinematic universe was ahead while the DC cinematic one sucked.
Interest in the movie suckered enough people into buying new books for marvel even if they were terrible. DCs movies bombing pretty much turned people off the brand altogether
>google.com
>That market growth is not captured in the Diamond Comics data, in that bookstores typically order through distributors that accept inventory returns, rather than Diamond’s non-returnable terms geared for specialty stores that maintain an inventory of back issues for collectors. For this reason, Diamond’s sales figures capture the dollars and units sold into the retail channel, but not necessarily sold through to customers. It’s possible that a lot of the books ordered by comic stores are still sitting on shelves or in discount bins - not that it matters to the publishers.
Direct market is meaningless since it's nonreturnable.
100 copies of Ms Marvel sitting in your local comic shop doesnt mean shit
>Turns out pandering to the lowest common denominator of zoomers and youngsters worked just it did for Anime
This. Also, DC does bullshit like Metal and pushes Batman entirely too much.
>wtf i thought woke is broke?!??
The whole world doesn't revolve around your resentment for younger people.
