A common criticism of the world of Frozen appears to be that it's too small

A common criticism of the world of Frozen appears to be that it's too small.
Now, since the obvious answer is to expand beyond Arendelle's borders, what can you do with that premise that would make for a good story?
Or is there a way to make a third movie that would still take place inside, or very close, to the already established world and make an interesting story within that familiar setting?

I think it would be better to move the story outside of Arendelle.
It can be a very simple story.
All they need to do is have Anna and Elsa alone on an adventure.

Frozen should've been a one off movie. It has zero potential for anything more than a cute story. You are deluding yourself

Anna and Elsa without Kristoff and Olaf would be great, as long as no one gets canoed

Imagine Frozen 3 had this plot:

Elsa becomes mentally unstable as a result of her past trauma which causes her to shut herself away again and this time people criticize her for being a weak queen. Meanwhile Anna and Kristoff are ruling as king and queen, but then Elsa's reign of terror begins as her powers become out of control and she ends up physically harming the people around her. Anna has no choice but to make it a mission to bring her sister back to her senses before she destroys Arendelle. At the end of the movie Kristoff is killed by Elsa and Anna is left with no other choice but to kill her sister.

Anna kills Elsa and then returns to Arendelle depressed but she remains conflicted that her sister is dead and that she actually saved Arendelle from the traumatized monster that emerged from within her sister.

I'd be ok with a short set in Arendelle centered around Queen Anna
But for a movie, yes, they have to get away from that place

FROM THE SAME user WHO POSTED THE HYPOTHETICAL PLOT FOR PG-13 FROZEN 3:

I think this would make for an emotional final chapter that finally reveals Elsa's true self and puts Anna's intelligence, mental state, and her capacity for love to the test. While it may be too mature for kids, I think as an actual story this would be interesting and a darker look at Elsa and Anna's sisterly bond.

Write it and I'll read it

What do you think of my plot for a more mature and even darker Frozen 3?

I don't think Disney would accept a "younger sister kills her older sister" plot. It's an idea for a more mature take on the franchise and include moral dilemmas.

user, I really like your idea but Disney would never go ahead with something like that
make it into a fic

Use any of the many countries that have been established in the Frozen world over the last 7 years instead of ignoring them

As Captain of the Guard in charge of protecting at least two kings, Mattias went wherever royalty went. I bet he's got some stories to tell of his travels.

The same as this user I think it's not bad at all, but it's not something Disney would ever do

While it's very dark and definitely the opposite of your typical Disney flim. I think this take on Anna and Elsa's relationship with make them more relatable as it deals with influences affecting a person and how Elsa's trauma influenced her to unleash her demons since she has the power. Her heart becomes corrupted as the fifth spirit as she becomes a dark spirit as opposed to one who keeps peace as she lives in a world that's rapidly changing.

are you saying we should have a Mattias series?
because I would be extremely down for that

Nazis.

I think that this kind of Frozen story if Disney was willing to go a mature direction would be a good successor as it even more complex than the second. I'd like to see Elsa experiencing flashbacks that anger her and this hatred that comes from the fact that she's different from everybody else.

>her powers become out of control and she ends up physically harming the people around her
It might seem like a repeat, but I think this is believable, since she could barely control her normal powers (she still shoots ice when she’s surprised on the balcony) and now she’s been powered up into a goddess. She has to learn to control her magic all over again. A Spirit’s mistakes are much more dangerous than a queen’s.

I just want to hear more Sterling K. Brown

lol
Imagine Disney acually taking advantage of expanded material like that

What if Mattias actually assisted Anna and Kristoff with stopping Elsa in my hypothetical Frozen 3 plot? My idea was that Mattias ends up not surviving Elsa's wrath, but Anna is the only major character that survives but suffers an even worse trauma than Elsa knowing she's severely hurt her sister to save Arendelle. This is because Elsa's gifts are perceived as curses to her and her perception of Anna has distorted due to her rage.

I believe!

A hundred years too early.
But I guess you could make it work with immortal Elsa.

I believe while this is similar to the original movie, it's a natural progression for the story as it expands on Elsa's past in the form of flashbacks and her growing anger at her situation. Plus when she returns as a spirit she's twice as dangerous. How this develops Anna's character is that it shows how hesitant she is to stop her sister because she loves her, but she's a direct threat to Arendelle.

>the Nazis go on an Indiana Jones style adventure to find a magical “artifact” in the Enchanted Forest that turns out to be Elsa

I understand and I get the feeling that this wouldn't be appropriate for children. But as a PG-13 Frozen 3 I believe if Disney was willing to take a risk with the storytelling and present a painful conclusion for Elsa and Anna. I think that this can make the franchise one to be remembered for how brave it became. But sadly this would not happen because Disney is family-friendly.

Does Eldora have a cute princess/queen yet?

I like the idea of Anna and Elsa having this face-off at the end of Frozen 3 because it highlights everything they went through and what these differing feelings have lead to. I also like it because it makes Anna useful and a character you feel for, also it makes Kristoff useful as his friend and potential sister-in-law has become someone that she never expected. Like this is the final chapter and the stakes are at their highest.

kek
why do they keep inviting the duke?

What do you think of my concept for Frozen 3? I've been talking about this power struggle between the sisters and the final chapter that determines if Elsa destroys Arendelle for good as caused by her god-like powers that she grew into at the end of Frozen 2.

Yes, Queen Marisol of Eldora.
She appears in “A Warm Welcome” book where Elsa assumes that she has fire powers and trapped her land in eternal summer, but Marisol explains that they’re a desert kingdom and...deserts are hot.

I think it's stop asking, people will reply naturally

lol
user, I get that you're enthusiastic about your idea but if people want to give their opinion they'll reply to your original post, you don't need to go asking every new poster.

Sorry it was just because I was excited about the idea because it was thought-provoking.

Ah yes, the beginning of Elsa’s chocolate harem

I understand where you're coming from.

For Frozen 3 they'll go on an epic adventure to a place that's 30 minutes SOUTH of Arendelle
you know damn well I'm right

Provided they had a creative, imaginative individual in charge, Frozen honestly had the potential to become the next Aladdin (or Tangled, I guess, I still need to watch the series). The world is full of magic and magical beings if all shapes in sizes and could easily have Anna and Elsa going on adventures and facing new threats of all kinds on a fairly constant basis. It's simultaneously mind-boggling and impressive that they actually managed to shrink the world as much as they did with Frozen II.

I want Anna and Elsa to fight, but I don't want them to kill each other.

Frozen 3: Beach Party

Anna and Elsa buddy adventure would be hype
