It's the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.
Wanting them to go nowhere near politics - especially the most easily mocked politician to ever live - is unreasonable.

>we don't know who ryan seacrest
>wow it peter dinklage from game of thrones
well what is it, do they know modern celebrities or not
The freak brothers shat on cops mostly, there weren't hot takes on contemporary politicians. If nothing else as an underground comic it tried to do something different.
Trump humour is the most wide spread, unoriginal cross possible.
They should drop that fucking annoying cat.
My dad collected all the Freak Brothers comics, I've read them all several times.
I can safely say that isn't not a thing that should have been revived. Not in this current year anyway. They were lampooning everything surrounding hippies, stoners, junkies and government detractors. Not to mention none of them were nice people, they habitually stole, robbed and did basically anything imaginable for their next hit whether it was weed, coke or acid (Although I feel like I remember they specifically didn't do heroin).
They were also extremely chauvinistic and got laid several times through various cons, and weren't really in favor of gays either. What possible reason anyone could have to bring them back I can't guess at, but without removing most of their personalities to make them fit the current day mindset, they aren't going to be marketable. And once you do that, it's no longer the freak brothers.
Stick to reading the comics. Gilbert Shelton's artwork is half the fun.
>50 year old underground anti-establishment comic
>neutered and brought in line
Fuck this gay Earth.
How is mocking the ruling party, the one that runs most of the government, not anti-establishment?
Kinda nice to see a Freak Brothers thread I didn't make, wish more people would talk about it.
Same, my dad told me about reading the comics when he was younger and one year my mom got him the omnibus and I decided to check it out and really enjoyed it. It was a pretty interesting look into the past and I think a revival should be just that, something that keeps all the negative aspects of the brothers and the era they lived in. I think if it were done like Fritz the Cat it would have a pretty good chance of being decent.
I think when I start trying animation I might try adapting some of the original strips, couldn't be much worse than I hope
>Pete Browngardt circa-2008 will never helm a adaption of this
Because the other side is still part of the establishment, so supporting them can never be anti-establishment. Of course, we live in confusing times. The original comic's staunch anti-cop humor could also be interpreted as pro-establishment today. Really, there are a few problems with adapting 70's counter-culture to the modern age.
>well what is it, do they know modern celebrities or not
I mean they're a bunch of Hippies from the late 60's, they'd probably be way more interested in something like Game of Thrones(after all Lord of The Rings was really popular with the Hippie Crowd) than American Idol(or whatever the fuck Ryan Seacrest is doing these days)
I dunno I'm pretty sure the comics shat on Nixon at least a couple times
>Pete Browngardt
who?
>anti-cop humor could also be interpreted as pro-establishment today
I hope this is the dumbest take I read today.
once again posting a link to my collection of Freak Brothers comics;

appropriately enough I initially discovered this set on a psychedelics forum in a thread memorializing a deceased member of the site
Oh yeah, there he is, the guy who's pretending he doesn't know what's going on in the world today so he can call other people stupid. Sure, you have all of the media controlled by establishment interests shilling against the police, but that's totally an anti-establishment opinion.
It's really simple, you smoothbrain. Just because you're not licking one boot, doesn't mean you're not licking the other.
>it's only okay if they shit on OTHER people, not muh based boy!!
>who
creator of Uncle Grandpa and developer of the new Looney Tunes Cartoons show
oh, yeah I do agree he'd be a good choice, I could see J.G. Quintel do a good job with it too
Why yes I too watched the Maps of Meaning lectures
>flash puppet rigs
>trump jokes in the first act
>tweening
Yep, this is going to be shit
At least John Goodman's in it. I don't know the other two guys and I couldn't give a rat's ass about Hadish. Was that cat even in the original comic?
Yeah, that's Fat Freddy's Cat (that is in fact his name), was male cat in the comics that mostly just shit and piss on the Freak Brother's stuff, not sure why they made him into a sassy black lady though.
If the internet existed in the 60's, Zig Forums would have loved these guys.
