Slightly hard. Think of it as bullet hell-ish. The animation is really nice, but most of the time you die you'll be thinking "How come I didn't see that projectile? ", whuich of course you couldn't because everything in the screen moves and it's a bit distracting.
Other than that, just a boss rush and some platforming. Highly recommended.
Patience and practice, you'll get there, user. Though if you want to cheese it a bit, buy the charged shot.

No harder than Metal Slug or Gunstar Heroes. Remember too that modern games that don't treat the player like a total moron ala Cuphead, Souls/Bloodborne, Nioh etc. are something of a rarity now, hence the whole LMAO TOTALLY HARDCORE thing.

Like oldschool games where you don’t beat it in the first try, and actually have to replay it while stepping up the difficulty until your skills are honed.
Like Megaman 1 or the harder parts of Super Mario World.
What sets it apart from Dark Souls-likes is that in those games a large part of the difficulty is not knowing what to do. Not so much here.
