Will there ever be a show that mixes child imagination/wonder and sci-fi/action/spy elements as good as KND? Been rewatching the show today and I genuinely believe this is one of the best shows aimed at kids, it seems to know exactly what they want and focus on that.
Will there ever be a show that mixes child imagination/wonder and sci-fi/action/spy elements as good as KND...
The trick is no romance drama or self-inserts.
Reminder he has equality was present throughout the show. Everyone got along. And boys and girl hit and fucked each other up.
Also can we all agree that Adult Origin episode is non canon? Because it is plothole filled.
>no self-inserts
not Numbuh 24?
But was he blatant and a personal fantasy for the inserter?
Numbuh 24 was modeled after Jhouwel, who won a Cartoon Network contest "Operation C.A.R.T.O.O.N." where the prize was a cameo appearance on the show
Something like KND cannot be made in this era.
So not a self-insert at all
nope. contest winner
there's even more plot holes when you know the previous episode had a FROZEN CAVEMAN in the Arctic and the ancient times here show technology and society having already evolved and Earth not even looking like Pangea
>And boys and girl hit and fucked each other up.
I loved this as a child, it seemed like a more genuine and real friendship than "Boys thinks all girls are icky" or "girl hits boy constantly and he just complies because she's a girl".
Honestly I think the deeper the lore got the worse it was
Not even Heinrich was safe from it
Especially in that pool episode with the negative dimension. #4 didnt give a fuck. Also the Irish Feminist bitch alway got humiliated. Which was always good to see.
>show that mixes child imagination/wonder and sci-fi/action/spy elements
There's shows that mix child imagination with sci-fi/action and there will be some in the future but "spy elements" is deader than cyberpunk.
don't forget P.O.I.N.T. where the Teen Ninjas aren't even a thought and the teenagers seem like more stuck up kids than enemies
>no romance drama
you mean like between numbahs 3 and 5, numbah 2 and numbah 5s sister, numbah 1 and lizzie, numbah 1 and 5, and numbah 3 and her mystery crush
I meant 3 and 4 but hey
I'm amazed there wasn't an alternate ending of Operation: W.H.I.T.E.H.O.U.S.E. where the lotus eating machine starts unraveling even more after the whole pileup at capitol square and it reveals that General Beetles is -4 in disguise and signs the contract himself
and the result is the adult sector V and Lizzie revealed to have been their present young versions in disguise and kids and teenagers all over (remember Numbuh 4's hatred for teenagers in several episodes?) being terrorized and captured by his gargantuan Star Wars-style capturing robots (including Sector V) and Nigel waking up
i'm also amazed at the lack of cultural stereotypes in this show even for it's time
You could chalk that up to season 1 weirdness. Remember that the whole KND organization wasn't a thing yet. During all of season one, it was just five kids in a big ol' treehouse who happen to fight overbearing and crazy adults.
I agree tenfold
but then again there was those Jamaican agents who were always suspiciously happy, not too bright, and adding "mon" after every sentence
Wasn't Cree the only one actually pushing the Teens to fight as they really didn't care about the KND otherwise?
This show is just okay. The humor is alright. Action isn't anything special. Lore got weird in the later seasons. I wouldn't consider this in the top 5 percent of cartoons.
The trick is not to take the lore seriously. This show was always a silly comedy first and foremost and not some plot-driven serial.
none of those are cringey and are played for laughs
They had all of this in the show though, the difference is that they kept it consistent and never let these solely themes overtake the show identity
I won't be surprised if that was the case
don't forget their leader Steve
now I realize there's so much wasted potential with operation T.R.E.A.T.Y.
It could've revealed that the Teen Ninjas are to the main universe what the Destructively Nefarious Kids are to the negaverse: an organization that rules by fear and everyone is operating against their will while their leader is fearsome and dangerous, forcing them to do so
and one of the 4 of Sector V (by 4 I mean this is a great script idea for the Galactic Kids Next Door, maybe the beginning before the G:KND feel the mood to destroy Earth) remembers the events of Operation P.O.I.N.T. where the teenagers weren't as hostile towards the kids and didn't seem to care about the KND otherwise, and they thus tell off the leader by the fact that they're making them reject their dreams to fight kids
and just like with the Destructively Nefarious Kids' uniformed operatives, one by one, the teen ninjas take off their armor and quit, talking about their dreams
eventually Steve has no idea what to do while Cree is decommissioned.
