Is this franchise cursed?

Why did it need to be a franchise? What's wrong with having one thing that's good with a beginning and an ending?

Why would anyone WANT a live action adaptation of a cartoon anyway? Why watch a remake of something that was already perfect the first time?

>Divisive
Korra fans are a small minority and had god awful raitings.

Whatever you think of Korra it's better than everything else in this franchise except the original show.

>Is this franchise cursed?
>portrays the God of tibetan buddhism as a lesbian when he's supposed to be an celebate man.
Maybe

Who are you talking about?

The kiyoshi books are good

>divisive sequel series
>direct sequel comic no one wanted
Non-Zig Forums fans like these though.

They wanted the latter animated.

You’re not wrong

because Korra's only competition is one of the top 5 worst films of all time, and a low budget comic that wasn't even written by bryke
talk about low bars.

Something being 'cursed' and 'hitting it's peak' are two different things.

It was supposed to be an animated movie but we got Korra season 2 instead.

how did they not get a good game

Just watch the original series and pretend everything after doesn't exist.

That's unconfirmed.

Not that high of a bar

Yes

OP probably just wanted to say divisive instead of pure garbage because Korrafags would cry.
Just to be clear: TLOK is trash compared to ATLA, it's not even a contest.

If in some bizzaro alternate universe this shit gets another show, it has to be a prequel because fucking no one wants to watch Avatar set in 90's New York with no past lives other than Korra.

Objectively wrong.

Korra isn't even bad as far as cartoons go. It just that it's inferior to it's predecessor.

Plus the setting isn't really big enough to accommodate a huge sprawling franchise. There just isn't that much to see that we didn't already get to see in the first show.

opinion discarded

Things don't need to be franchises. It was fine as it was.

The idea of trying to adapt it to live action has always been laughable.
You need superb child actors of specific ethnic backgrounds.
You need sets that are elaborate, both indoor and outdoor settings, for a globe-spanning story.
You need high-end martial arts choreography.
A huge variety of special effects needed for the animals, some of which are major characters.
A huge variety of special effects needed for the bending, all of which will need to be interacted with by the cast/stuntmen.
And then there's the costuming.
To do a single episode right you'd need a budget comparable to Black Panther.
AND you'd need a whole lot of luck to have just the right cast of child actors to make it feel and look right.
Anyone that thinks it can be done is an imbecile. This is very much the sort of show that could only hope to be pulled off in animated format.

>development hell

You really think Netflix was even phased by them walking off? They left because Netflix was doing what they wanted despite their dubious input, this show will get made.

They distanced themselves the same way they did with Shamwow. They could smell that this show was going to be a turd. How could it not?

He means showing Korea as the Dalai Lama is offensive? I think?

who the fuck is korea

Where cartoons come from.

Is there anyone that honestly thinks the show will be GOOD?
They took the money and ran. Smart.
