Watched this on VHS all the time as a kid. Its diminishing quality was in sync with my aging and interest in things. I remember watching that short teaser with Scrat climbing the ice and stopping the water around 2005/2006 a lot and hyping for that movie even though my family was doing stupid shit and I got moved to a different state between the teaser and the movie release, and then I remember being interested but less in the dinosaurs one with that other teaser where Scrat falls on his cock. Had zero interest in Ice Age 4 and 5 although I did end up seeing the fourth one twice because my parents insisted on keeping birthday things going, and then my grandma wanted to see it later. Never saw 5 in theaters but watched it online one night.

These movies really felt direct to DVD writing with good animation. It because a love interest franchise always needing to pair someone up after Meltdown introduced Ellie. Then it started being written for modern day kids with that one retard mammoth singing LIGHT EM UP UP UP LIGHT EM UP UP UP MIC DROP or some shit and I was glad the movies started to bomb. I never thought this would be a big franchise, I just liked the quiet tone of the first movie and then some of 2-3.

Third one was the last enjoyable one

Scrat should have been more part of the story of ice age. Manny Diego sid and scrat would have been a good foursome.

I remember marathoning all of the ice age movies drunk with my friends for our guy's 21st birthday and kept repeating "REMEMBER THE FIRST MOVIE" by the time we got to the fifth. Seriously, they fucking STOP A METEOR FROM HITTING THE PLANET WITH MAGIC ROCKS

The first one I remember very fondly, it was cartoony at points but still felt pretty grounded. made it feel really comfy. The second movie got a bit weirder, with the whole mammoth possum thing, and I remember the climax was a bit crazy but besides that the second movie was just kinda forgettable. The series just got less and less grounded and more fantastical with fucking dinosaurs in the third movie, and I feel as it got more like this it got less comfy. That weasel guy was fun in the third one though. I never watched the two movies made after it as it just seemed at that point the franchise wasnt worth it to stick around with, none of these movies captured the charm of the first, and the whole fucking space planets billiard balls meteor magic plot was just too much.

why were there only humans in the first one? seriously, they are just gone from he universe after that, even though the first one was literally ABOUT humans.

I would argue the 4th one was almost as good as the 1st one, mostly because Captain Gutt was fantastic as a villain. Plus it had the best ending for the franchise but they ruined it by making Ice Age 5. Here's my personal ranking of the movies.
1. Ice Age
2. Continental Drift
3. Dawn of the Dinosaurs
4. The Meltdown
5. Collision Course

Don’t know why each movie afterward had to introduce a new character/love interest to join the cast, going from 3 main characters to like 20 of them.

This and Despicable Me 1 fell victim to the sequel hatedom. Despite both being GOOD, people hate them for what they spawned afterwards.

Controversial opinion but, I really liked Ice Age Continental Drift
>Characters now have bigger stakes and something to really fight for

Overall it's pretty decent and I'd say it's the most underrated of the bunch. I wish I could say the same for Collision Course though.
