What is even more interesting is that there was never supposed to be a switch. Steve Rogers was supposed to permanently be a Hydra/Nazi villain and Sam was supposed to be the permanent Captain America written by Coates for as long as he wanted.

They're unlikely to revisit the specific details of what happened in Secret Empire again, and just stick with their narrative that the heroic Captain America who emerged from the Cosmic Cube is the real one and the Hydra Captain America isn't.

I would have liked that more. People can bitch about politics but I think seeing the characters in comics be recontextualized for the sensibilities of the time is an interesting way to snapshot the era
