I seriously don't get it, just use fucking Dr. Psycho
You don't have to make him a dwarf if it's really that big a problem, just make him a manlet

I've always been kinda interested in getting into wonder woman comics and so with the new creative team i thought this would be a decent jumping on point, but the art really put me off, maybe i'll give it another shot

Eh it doesn't seem to be a good jumping on point for the mere fact that it's not all that interesting compared to her past comics
I'm posting the TPB "The Last True Hero" tomorrow which I recommend much more

Also don't count on this run lasting more than like 6 issues

I wonder if this is also because of the movieverse having parademons

you don't think Tamaki's sticking around?

ugh

For good Wonder Woman intros try:
The Golden Age comics
George Perez's run
Earth One
New 52

The recent Dead Earth is also good

To me this comes off like just a self-contained graphic novel disguised as a run. They got a big YA writer, it doesn't carry on from or reference the run that precedes it at all, it starts with a big introduction to the character, it just happens to use Max Lord (not a Wonder Woman villain) at the same time the movie uses him, doesn't seem to really be setting up any kind of longterm storyline outside of Max Lord

UGH
Thanks for reading

Also compare to similar things Marvel has done to big success, just happening to have stealth miniseries come out right on cue with movies.

pits

Those are all solid points and make me wonder about DC's incompetence because you'd think putting it out first as a GN would be a much better seller.

Is it just me or did only female heroes have good New 52 runs?

It's not a bad idea since 1) they just gotta pay for one Wondie writer instead of two, 2) they can maybe transition the readers of the TPB to the ongoing series by selling subsequent TPBs or single issues, and 3) they can attract new readers in the comic shop looking to start reading the series.

Like you said, it IS a jumping on point of sorts, if you're wanting to follow the ongoing, but I personally would say the best jumping on points for any character are always going to be the classics.

Nah Action Comics and Flash were good. And Batgirl and BoP were whiffs. But Supergirl and Worlds' Finest were pretty solid.

But I think the debate of "which N52 books were good, actually?" is one that will continue for all time.
