New Series of Avatar

>Korra dies around year 210, roughly 60 years old
>The new Avatar is born in an isolated area of the Earth Kingdom to non-bender parents
>Is not found at first. learns about his powers on his own, without understanding why he has them
>parents die, and he learns to fend for himself, with only his bending, living as a drifter
>finally found as a teenager
>"Child, we have been looking so long for you! Don't you know you are the Avatar?"
>"the... a-ba-dar?"
>"The Avatar, the most powerful human in the world, destined to guide us all in times of strife"
>Avatar goes with them, thinking his destiny includes being the ruler of the world
>Because Korra broke the link with previous avatars, she is the only equal he has, which is not enough for him to understand his role
>when he's finally mastered the elements, he uses his powers to take over the world
>"Avatar, this is wrong! You can't just kill people for going against your will!"
>"And why not? You said so yourself, i am destined to guide this world! All these people should worship me"

>The plot of the series is that the Avatar is evil, and must be stopped
>The MCs are fighting against him, but realize with there only being one previous Avatar spirit, the next might turn out the same as him
>They have to find a way to either make the Avatar see the errors of his ways and become a better influence on the next avatar, or kill him while he is in the Avatar state, ending the cycle

I want to call the idea hackneyed and cliche, but honestly the Avatar being evil due to a lack of previous lives to subtly guide his mindset would be an interesting spin on things. It's just a shame there's no way 1. any writer would have the balls to try it, or 2. you would be able to justify it in-setting, as the only influence that kid has is Korra who, for all her faults, is just not evil and would not let her reincarnations be.

Maybe if we were talking about a completely blank slate after Korra wiped the previous lives including herself, but with her still in it, no chance. At best, you could set her up as a "human weapon for an evil cause they misconstrue as good" trope.

>Korra
stopped reading there

>korra dies
started reading there

>Korra dies around
stopped reading there

>1. any writer would have the balls to try it,
You're probably right about that one, but i think a third series would need to switch things up a little to make it interesting
Given they've already tried five different types of villain-plots, there's a certain limit to what can be done without feeling like you're copying any of those

>2. you would be able to justify it in-setting, as the only influence that kid has is Korra who, for all her faults, is just not evil and would not let her reincarnations be.
How about if this Avatar just sees Korra's ways as just one way to be the Avatar. And as he himself grew up learning that only raw power is what protects him from muggers and other people, he might decide to see Korra as weak and feeble, and eventually find a way to completely lock off his connection with her

>Maybe if we were talking about a completely blank slate after Korra wiped the previous lives including herself
I dunno, I think it was a mistake for the writers to wipe out all previous Avatars in the first place, wiping even Korra, the only one that's supposed to be remaining would seem even more of a cop-out to me

Korra butchered the setting so bad I see zero point in going forward if it's going to include the mechs and steampunk shit. I'd much rather they go backwards.

>earth bender
why?
> Korra broke the link with previous avatars
>when he's finally mastered the elements
What? so he has 4 elements but no avatar state?
>evil avatar
yeah everyone agree dark avatar was good...

Just redo korra, but instead of raised water tribe and doing lots of fire, which seemed to be her thing?
Just do something else.
One, clearly a guy, 2 I would say pre/young teen, but not older teen or younger then teen like aang.
Might need new bending or other new stuff?
Did everyone dislike lava?
Cause if everyone disliked lava, i guess glass "bending" won't work. (I was thinking like mirror master)
Maybe do a water into wood/plant bending more?
More Wood/plant bending could be cool?

But yeah, I guess you need some better enemies, i guess simular aged young teen enemies with one older enemy worked better.

Need a main joke charachter,
and a charachter with diability?
At least 3-4 main charchters who travel together most of the series?
One evil charachter hurt by thier nation or family and looking to prove their worth?
A 3-4 person evil group of teens.
A good amount of humor thrown in a bunch of episodes?
I could go on, but basically copy original atla with some changes?

What if he learns about what Korra did and considers HER the best example why he should do things his way instead: because his only example from memory of a good avatar was an absolute shit-show of a failure.

Hell yeah, Chen the Conquerer reincarnated

I actually have a fanfic idea, going off the ideas of dark and light avatar. The dark and light avatar are rivals but both of them have to learn each other’s place in the world

Bryke will never allow a series with the core conceit of "Korra made a mistake" to exist

>why?
Because earth is the next in the cycle...?
>What? so he has 4 elements but no avatar state?
What are you talking about? Even after breaking the link Korra was able to enter the Avatar state. And yes, i meant that he learns to bend all the elements before he is first able to enter the state
>yeah everyone agree dark avatar was good...
Doesn't have to be the same as when Unalaq did it

That's sort of what i meant, but not the way you did.
I meant that he considered his only Avatar memories to be someone who did not fully use her powers to stop those badguys

Well, maybe, but how do you imagine any series focusing on the next Avatar would work without even bringing it up as a mistake?
"Hey, nice to meet you new Avatar! I'm your former self"
"really? What about the other guys?"
"oh yeah, i kind'a cut my ties with those guys"
"You WHAT!?"

> his
Stopped reading there. Can't go back to a male Avatar after Korra.

>Avatar born in earth nation to earth bender parents
>He starts bending in a very early age
>Fire bending
>Father becomes extremely suspicious of the mother
>Hates his own kid
>Starts fights with random people, specially fire benders
>Ends up offing himself

I just thought about something.
rock was done, metal was done, sand is being done and kind of a naruto thing, lava was not really earth, and i'm not sure glass would work since might be simular to lava?

So, this might sound like steven univearse, but Gem-bending?
Give me the money now nickelodeon.

Gem-bending

Although that would imply people actually liked steven universe and thought it was good.
Based on populartiy of this thread right now, who knows

>A fully adult Avatar had cut himself off from society, and is trying to follow his own journey of self discovery and purpose
>Meanwhile a huge organization is enlisting the help of PMCs to try to track him down
>The whole southern region of the Earth Kingdom continent is a war zone following a messy conclusion to the Earth Kingdom civil war, and acts as a makeshift testing ground for new advancements in bending/non bending related warfare
>The Avatar, along with a rogue PMC who wants to help him reconnect with society, are forced to deal with a variety of threats such autonomous bots, cyborgs, enhanced benders with abilities unique to themselves, just to name a few
>The series doesn’t solely focus on the SEK though, especially in the first book. We start off investigating what appears to just be mafia activity in the Fire Nation, but it inevitably expands way beyond just that
>It is a cassette futurism world, so their tech is reminiscent of the 80s with hard edged, geometric designs and bold neon colors against monotone, but is a decade or so more advanced than the real 80s hence the “futurism”

>as the only influence that kid has is Korra who, for all her faults, is just not evil and would not let her reincarnations be.
Yeah but communicating to their past lives was hard even for the Spiritual Aang, we are talking about an Avatar who knew nothing about anything until way later in his/her life. Maybe by the time Korra manifest he or she is so stuck in their ways that doesn't listen to her.

Or maybe genuinely antagonize her, like what if their parents where killed by an spirit and blames the previous Avatar for making the world that way? Maybe they siege republic city as their fist step on revenge against all spirits.

>I meant that he considered his only Avatar memories to be someone who did not fully use her powers to stop those badguys
no, take it a step further: he became evil because she was such a fucking retard, and she's his only point of reference for a "moral avatar"

Consider that this is BASICALLY Avatar Kyoshi.

She fucking killed anyone that threatened the stability of the world, look it up.

make every earth avatar like kyoshi so that every one in four avatars come along to reset the world to a certain way when the three before them fucks shit up in some dumb way.

Sure, but she never aimed to being the ruler of the world, did she?

>all Earth avatars are chads

Yeah I'm not reading your fanfic. Go fuck yourself OP.

Holy shit. You assholes DARE to shit on Korra when your ideas are like this

Bryke, what are you guys doing here? Aren’t you guys supposed to be busy with character assassination or what not in those comics?

>The plot of the series is that the Avatar is evil, and must be stopped
What's exactly evil about killing bad guys and wanting to rule the world? He is destined to become the most powerful being anyway so why shouldn't he be in charge?

I read your fanfic and it was shit

did "these people should worship me" not give it away?
Killing people is only justified when they are bad guys, but if for example he kills people because they don't want to build a huge palace to him, and offer all taxes going to him, that would be pretty shitty.
