>"Spider-Verse's animation is so revolutionary and experimental unlike the tired Disney Pixar style and every frame of it looks like a comic book"

The only comic books Spider-Verse manages to look like are those shitty 00s ones made out of CG screenshots or those traced over photographs of real life with muddy low effort backgrounds when comic artists were trying out new ways to be lazy and cut corners under the guise of revolutionary tech. It somehow manages to look worse than straight 2D, straight 3D, 2D pretending to be 3D like Klaus, or 3D pretending to be 2D like the Dragon Ball Fighter Z game, all at once.

Just adding panels, sound effects, and halftones to something doesn't automatically make it "look like a comic book", or at least not a good one. If they really wanted to evoke the comic book feel in a genuine way they could've made a 2D animated movie based on an established comic book art style like the Marvel house style or based on staple Spider-Man artist like Bagley who both worked on ASM and defined the Ultimate universe which would truly be revolutionary. Or at least using something else as the concept art basis for their 3D models than literal Disney/Pixar/DreamWorks character designers and concept artists like Shiyoon Kim, Borja Montoro, Guillermo Ramírez etc.

It's a hollow and dishonest art direction for hollow people who have never read a comic book in their lives but would like to say they are because it's trendy these days. They actually had an inspired direction with what Alberto Mielgo had in mind for the movie, but they let him go and settled on "literally Disney but throw in some textured brushes and chromatic aberration and low FPS and shit like that" and retards ate it up.

Bet you moaned when they revealed wind waker too

is this pasta?

You can't shove "dishonest" in front of everything like it means anything

>what people think Spider-Verse looks like

You know, that may have been my first conscious exposure to how masses of people can just be straight up whiny bitches determined to be aggrieved about something. I was not and have never really been taken with cel shading artstyles, but fuck, I can appreciate well done and clearly communicating art outside of my personal preferences. Ansel Adams should have used color if he wanted me to seek out his photography, but I can still be aware of how excellent it is.

yea okay but have you seen this cat though?

You are not wrong, but it is still better than Pixar shit.

There's not much wrong with Spider-Verse's style on its own, but it is objectively not anywhere near what it's touted to be. It's standard modern CGI fare with some comic gimmick flair and low FPS.

I take it you unironically like Dixnar style?

I still don't get how the whole choppy animation bit was supposed to emulate comic books

That shit was horrid and that they gutted the frames by choice is retarded.

That's an angry-looking cat.

I think spiderverse is a better constructed movie than LEGO Batman but it takes a fat dump on the soul of the character where LEGO Batman perfectly used the medium to create the perfect tribute

>make a comic book movie
>do literally anything interesting with the visuals
>iT lOoKs LiKe A cOmIc BoOk!
Fuck reviewers.

Looks neats, thanks user

Because it looks like a slightly better animated motion comic?

Fucking thing didn't even have cel shading to emulate ink, it would unironically look better if it didn't have those comic gimmicks because at least it wouldn't be embarrassing itself

Is this a webcomic?

Did anyone ever claim the movie was imitating McFarlane's art?

He's the first person I've seen using that comparison

I wish it would look like that

I'm no expert on the Ultimate universe but I assumed that was their point of reference (partially Mark Bagley like OP says), with some silver age flourishes like color "printing errors". Looks nice to me.

kot blini

>I'm no expert on the Ultimate universe but I assumed that was their point of reference
For a couple of things, other than that it didn't have a distinct style that you can point to one comic artist.

So this is the new molehill some autistic guy is going to make a mountain of on Zig Forums?

It was fucking rad though, the visuals were far and away the best part.

t. Angry Disneyfag

At least it's different, even if it's just shitposting about a popular movie.s

You wouldn't know interesting visuals and art direction if they came up and raped you in the ass you utter waste of carbon. Also
