Plastic Man egg

Can someone explain to me why Plastic Man was an egg in Metal? The only explanation I’ve heard is that it was to “contain his power”. Why was that ever necessary?

What was achieved by containing him? He’s walking around now just fine without containment, -it’s not like he poses a threat to those around him just by having autonomy.

How long was he trapped in this egg form for? Did he consent to this?

I believe Morrison’s Justice League run is back in continuity, is this correct?

Isn't the egg a reference to The Dark Knight Strikes Again? In that, the idea was that he really was crazy, and it was unsafe for the powers that be to let him free

>"He could kill us all. It'd be easy."

It was a silly putty joke.

But real answer? I think this was the first time Plas was introduced in current canon, as his new origin happened in Forever Evil. Simply put, O’Brian was a criminal, and Batman recognized how potentially dangerous he was given how OP his powers are. He was put to sleep and contained until threat assessment or a cure was determined. Whether or not the rest of the league agreed to this is up for debate

I haven’t read The Dark Knight Strikes Back, I’ve heard that it’s a massive disappointment compared to the Dark Knight Returns. I can accept that Frank Miller’s Batman is darker and edgier than canon Batman by default, and the book takes place in the “future” so who knows, maybe he has a really good reason for imprisoning Plastic Man if that’s the case.

Here, in canon, I presume Plastic Man was a hero prior to being egged. He would have been a trusted team member, albeit one that the others found annoying. This is especially the case if Morrison’s JLA is canon again. Why trap him in an egg for presumably years?

Friendly reminder that Plas is immune to Dark Multiverse bullshittery and can beat The Batman Who Laughs if he wanted to

We have no evidence to suggest Plas had a hero career in New 52 canon onwards to this moment in time. All we had was his new origin and then getting egged

>Why was that ever necessary?
It wasn't.
>What was achieved by containing him?
Nothing.
>How long was he trapped in this egg form for?
Dude, stop thinking about it, Metal is a jumble of plot holes built on a series of stories that were never even written.

Friendly reminder that cape comics are escapist fantasies for pathetic 40-year olds.

You all look like Rusty Brown to me.

Christ this plastic man hype is ridiculously unfunny.

I was under the impression that Morrison’s JLA had been brought back into canon? Maybe I’m mistaken?

I remember Plastic Man getting his powers in Forever Evil when he was still a crook. So you’re saying that Batman encountered him at some point after, and decided to egg him, and Plas had no career at all as a hero prior to Metal?

Isn’t trapping a dude in an egg for years how you’d create a much, much worse villain? I’m surprised Plastic Man wasn’t completely psychotic by the time he was released.

Doesn’t Gail Simone’s Plastic Man series overwrite his origin in Forever Evil and has his as a superhero early on? When is that series set, anyway? Alongside current stuff or “years ago”/Year One type stuff?

The explanation they give in The Terrifics is that Batman convinced him to go into the dark multiverse but when they pulled him out he turned into the egg. Chalking it up as too risky to try again they just left him like that in Mr. Terrific's lab for 5 years until Simon Stagg bought out his company and tried to recreate the experiment for profit.

Plastic man being an egg was actually foreshadowed a while ago.

>I was under the impression that Morrison’s JLA had been brought back into canon?
That simply isn't possible no matter what Snyder tries to tell you.

>still read it in Tom Kenny’s voice
I’m so confused

I can’t remember where I heard it. I think maybe I remember in one of the books a character had a photo of the Morrison Justice League or something? Maybe I dreamed that.

Couldn’t those adventures have taken place somewhere in New52 if we fanwank that Cyborg briefly left the team at one point and everyone forgot Wally was actually there?

Which comic is this? I don’t recall seeing this in metal?

>I was under the impression that Morrison’s JLA had been brought back into canon?
It was. Ignore the uneducated. It happened in Superman Reborn.

So after the Justice League formed at the start of New52, Cyborg must have very briefly left the team, allowing for Morrison’s JLA to happen, then Manhattan deleted Wally from everyone’s memories? Those are the two biggest discrepancies I can think of, but they can be handwaved pretty easily.

>Couldn’t those adventures have taken place somewhere in New52 if we fanwank that Cyborg briefly left the team at one point and everyone forgot Wally was actually there?
No because those stories have a specific continuity to themselves.
Morrison's JLA just cannot exist in the current space.

>that bulge

Plas....

It makes sense if you squash some things. See the full timeline here therealbatmanchronologyproject.com/thenewage/years-6-10/years-six-to-ten/

>Morrison's JLA just cannot exist in the current space.
You're not getting it. It DOES. It all was merged in Superman Reborn.
JLA by Morrison was referenced in Flash Vol. 5 #21, Justice League Vol. 3 #39, Green Arrow Vol. 6 #31, and Adventures of the Super Sons #1.

>You're not getting it. It DOES. It all was merged in Superman Reborn.
You're not getting it in that it literally cannot. It's like trying to fit a 6 foot coffin into a 3 inch box.

Morrison's JLA had Connor Hawke but Connor doesn't exist so any stories with him have been changed. Morrison's JLA cannot exist as they would have to immediately change like 75% of what happen and at that point it's no longer Morrison's JLA.

>Implying you wouldn't clap Plas Harley's cheeks while he cracks jokes.

Are you being purposefully dense? I just linked you a site that explains the full timeline.

Fuck your autistic fanboy timeline. I'm telling you right here right now that Morrison's JLA cannot nor should be condensed just to fit a shitty timeline.

I can hear it now.
>C'mon user, it's not gay, and if your search history is anything to go by the dick makes it better!
>So are you gonna give me a reach-around or do you want me to give you a reach-around-around?
>This puts a whole meaning to balloon knot
>My hips are moving on their own!
>Look Ma! No Rubber!
>I'm the baddest dragon that ever was.
>Good thing I took that online course in equine anatomy.
>Heh, the donation clinic won't be the wiser.

What is it with DC and turning power characters into eggs?

I'm sorry your feelings are hurt, but I'm not telling you how things should or could be. I'm telling you how they are in current canon. What this thread was for.

But he’s right about the Connor Hawke thing. Stuff doesn’t add up

Is Connor Hawke canon right now? Because if not then NO Morrison's JLA is not canon.

He really is that strong.

>character people like
>he's an egg because we cant write him well
cant wait for capeshit to die
