prequel could've been much more popular like 4 years ago, now its dead and I cant leave because ive been reading for 8 fucking years

There's just nothing to say about it. You're given a book that insists even stupid people can learn this magic, and then Kaz waits to see if anyone figures out what his abstract reasoning behind Restoration magic is. This goes on for a year or two, and this time thankfully moves on instead of getting the page where Kaz reveals the answer is to eat a barrel of Imp's Gall.

We have learned nothing, gained nothing, and are in no sense of suspense.

I liked it better when it was just about a poor Khajiit npc trying her best to make by in the world of the Elder Scrolls series.

Since banditry is the most common profession in all of Nirn, presumably people learning enough magic to be a mildly dangerous dungeon encounter is still NPC tier. Just not "local townspeople" tier. Well, except for the ones the developers mean to do a little fighting.

I still visit the small Katia dream scene sometimes, its still great.

Unless he did something I missed it's usually just a lot of diversionary talk about how it's fine he didn't put the pedal down on Prequel when it was important, and how he doesn't need to worry about the internet oligopolies because when he's ready to move on, word of mouth will make his next project popular with or without Google.

Although at this rate they might finish the anti-trust lawsuits by the time Kaz calls it on Prequel.

Is this comic worth reading or no?

The worst thing about Kaz is that he uses people as a shield. He refuses to take any personal blame for his failures, and every delay is always due to "that one guy he hired but hasn't yet delivered the goods". This has happened time and time again. He can't own up to his own incompetence and constantly throws people under the bus when it's his own damn fault for mismanagement.

That’s fair, I suppose I’m just miffed that this magic thing has been such a slog that’s taken the story almost nowhere, and it’s taken way too long to get through.

It's good until you have to wait for the next update, at which point the comic's pacing will kill it for you. You'll be waiting two or three months for a page about Katia eating a sandwich, practically.

Its an interesting story, especially if you're into The Elder Scrolls. But once you catch up, you'll wanna die. Updates can take months. I think we had a year gap once? To be fair, we got some pretty awesome updates, full fledged games and animations, but I'm not quite sure it was worth the waiting.

For context I'm pretty sure all of Undertale was completed in the amount of time it took Kaz to release his short RPG Maker game about getting trapped in the basement.

It's kind of apples and oranges comparing projects but the game really added nothing of value to the experience. The one where you explore the town was a hundred times better because you got to meet and greet all the NPCs and do a pole dancing competition.

He made a minigame out of it for his secret Patreon which is why the current update took so long. Pretty fun, although you can't actually see more than you would in the Sims.
