Don't blame me, I saw it, rented it and bought it.
Poor marketing
Poor marketing from WB
How the fuck should I know?
I was 10 months old when it came out, I just it really fucking annoyed that one Thanksgiving where CN played the movie over an over for 24 hours.
Like it's a good movie but what the fuck, that's April Fool's Day stuff right there
>has the fucking balls to tackle the Iron fucking Giant
>still too afraid to do Matilda because autists bombarded his email not to
>I have nothing to contribute, here's a blogpost
Faggot.
Yes, you are.
But let's move on
Marketing, sure. Mostly timing.
The Phantom Menace had came out just before Memorial weekend and frankly, i remember the summer of 99, fucking star wars was everywhere. the iron giant was nowhere to be found.
pretty sure Tarzan also under-performed because of TPM.
>No you
Posting cringe bro, losing subscribers.
Iron Giant was out in August, TPM was already winding down by then. WB was partly bad at marketing it. If I remember right, Disney's Inspector Gadget was out that month and was doing better.

He did Matilda though.
Man, it's so weird that Star wars used to market every single side character when the new trilogy...had no side characters.

Speaking as a kid in 1999 ( I was 7 going on 8) this movie was marketed poorly.
The big movies that year where Toy Story 2, Inspector Gadget and Tarzan. I went and saw every one of those in the theater. There was promotion for those movies everywhere (Toys, music, tv spots, poster, backpacks).
I don't think I ever saw an ad for Giant except in the credits of Warner Bros VHS tapes I got (like Batman Beyond).
>The Iron Giant was a commercial failure during its theatrical release; consensus among critics was that its failure was, in part, due to poor promotion from Warner Bros. This was largely attributable to the reception of Quest for Camelot; after its release, Warner would not give Bird and his team a release date for their film until April 1999.
>After wildly successful test screenings, the studio was shocked by the response: the test scores were their highest for a film in 15 years, according to Bird.[15] They had neglected to prepare a successful marketing strategy for the film—such as cereal and fast food tie-ins—with little time left before its scheduled release. Bird remembered that the studio produced only one teaser poster for the film, which became its eventual poster.
>Brad Ball, who had been assigned the role of marketing the film, was candid after its release, noting that the studio did not commit to a planned Burger King toy plan.[37] IGN stated that "In a mis-marketing campaign of epic proportions at the hands of Warner Bros., they simply didn't realize what they had on their hands."

LAUNCH THE MISSILE NOW!!!!!
What did Doug say about this scene?
Yep, these are the correct answers, WB had no idea on what to do with its marketing. Had things gone differently with it being put on various product placements, it probably would have been more successful because people would have know on what it is.
How is he still allowed to critique any movies after To Boldly Flee and his review of The Wall?
It would have been a perfect thanksgiving release movie. aesthetically, absolutely a fall movie, and tonally it would have been good for the entire holiday season.
Idiots like him
He still has a bunch of hardcore stans that just give him money to make the same old 2008 era videos in 2020.
>Tarzan underperfomed
Nope, it was the most successful 2D film released between Lion King and Simpsons Movie. It made 448 million at box office
Osmosis Jones was also released in August, which is the worst month for a movie to be released. WB was shit when it came to promoting and release dates
Amazing how none of those characters, other than Qui Gon, have a well defined personality. They're all boring as shit and have no chemistry. Windu's name isn't even said once in the film
BLACK MAN
dude, Ric Olie! do the dew bro.
I still find him entertaining
Yeah the ST has atrocious cast development. It’s probably some of the worst supporting cast in any blockbuster of the last decade
