I would also say making Simon the endgame villain, but I guess that's more what I personally don't want and could theoretically work. I'm just sick of villain leaders getting redeemed and their sidekicks who were bad because of them getting fucked over in their place.

Simon being the endgame villain is really unfair. It's actually great as far as the writing for the show goes but I feel the cards stacked against Simon
Grace found Simon and taught him to hate nulls. Even more than that she taught to make his number go up.
We can see in the first episode of Simon painting his miniatures he's still that 10 yr old deep inside.
He's force to relive trauma with the cat, and here is where Grace chooses to start drifting apart from him
Grace begins to change, but Simon remains the same villain he was in season 2.
So yes he's probably endgame villain but it's almost all Grace's fault.
