You sound like a massive Kylefag, Johns is ten times better than his Kyle Rayner fag solo, Johns fleshed out Sinestro, expanded the universe and lore of GL, got rid of their retarded weakness, not to mention it was epic, isn't what capes comics should be when it's about cosmic beings, there's a reason John's run is critically acclaimed and Ron's is a forgettable Kyle solo, and Atrocitus was fucking epic so were the other colors in the corp.

Honestly his Shazam was so forgettable, so delayed and so disconnected from anything else that I have trouble remembering it even exists. Grail was what I think of as Johns' Snyder Moment.
Oddly I don't EVER WANT to defend DoomClock because as premise it was garbage from the start but even I have to admit it ended much more neatly than I feared it would even if Johns did unceremoniously kill off a lot mystery boxes he set up LOST-style.

But what's wrong with that? It's cape comics about ring wielding beings in space, it should be at first and foremost fun and exciting, you aren't reading the Iliad or some shit come on man that reasoning is stupid. To be honest we could use more shonen shit in cape comics cause it seems to work for the Nips.

Oh, I keep forgetting to list Jemisin with Humphries, Yang and Spurrier on my List Of Good People At DC. Partly because she's a newcomer, partly because I didn't go into Far Sector expecting it to be that good.

Y'know, I...honestly don't have a good comeback for that? Fair enough, I think it's fair to say the comic industry would be a very different place if writing the equivalent of the Illiad translated directly into consistent, repeatable sales.

All I can really say to that is I really liked it when DC tried to be something more than that. I liked Obsidian and Alan reconnecting. I liked the futility of evil as embodied by Darkseid when I discovered and acclimatised to Kirby's original New Gods, and I liked it when the operatic lives of the Endless intersected with characters like Dr. Destiny and even the Trinity in Dream's wake.

I'm not visciously against Johns. I mean jesus, he's miles better than Bendis, King (on anything longer than a oneshot) and FUCKING Snyder. I honestly thought the villains had a fun dynamic working together in Forever Evil to beat the Crime Syndicate for one.

To be quite honest I think most of my hate for Johns comes from my reaction to Darkseid War, and that at least half of my hate of Darkseid War is reflexive to remind my penis that Grail is a terrible character whatever it thinks.

Because it's written by someone who ACTUALLY cares, understands and has a passion for this God forsaken medium.

Hail the Cereal Lord but to say this is THE best written cosmic run of all time is a stretch.

That being said, I enjoyed Green Lantern Corps far more.

You type of people are the reason capes hit at DC is dead. Character development should be the front of what they write. Not just smashing action figures together like John's does

Hal and Sinestro had some of the best development throughout the run, the ending with them was pretty heart felt

Just skimmed stuff his portfolio to figure out who he is. Huh, didn't read Secret Files so no wonder I missed him but from what I can glean he looks pretty solid too. Can't find much DC-specific work of his but if I ever get round to reading through Secret Files properly I'm sure I'll be convinced.

It bothers me he alluded to Zeus, Atlas etc having had their powers taken unwillingly by the wizard. And uh, seems to be doing nothing with Prime Time. Gotta wonder if it's because Snyder wanted to use Prime Time for his Death Metal crap in some capacity and vetoed a plot he had in mind

No matter what the Flash solo eventually explains that teamup as, I still maintain Eobard Thawne recruited Grodd by showing him his Snyder timeline future and convincing him it was retarded enough to help him in the hopes of whatever continuity-breaking shit he does ruining Barry's life disrupting that future.
