Of course not. That's because artists ran into an existential crisis when photography was developed, similar to what astrologists felt during the growth of heliocentric theory.
The entire field lost its fucking mind in the early 19th century after realizing that no amount of skill could match photography, so the very concept of "art" was redefined so as to avoid the unpleasant truth that they'd been bested by chemists and engineers. The sad irony is that you use the term "gate keeping", when that's precisely what modern artists have been doing for the last two centuries in order to keep domain over their pile of dirt. Doing whatever they can to try and exclude certain movies or video games simply because if it's too accessible, then it can't be "true art". Now it's all about pretense, and function is actively shamed. Because they're gatekeepers.
