If this pilot was released today, or half a decade ago, do you think it was going to be greenlit?
Welcome to the eltingville club
Can you imagine an entire movie about how shitty film fans are? Who would go see it? Yet in comics it’s held up as a classic of the medium.
The comics industry blames everything on its fans. It’s just weird.
I feel like it was ahead of its time
Definitely. IIRC, it was rejected because they thought "nerds" weren't a marketable demographic.
>Can you imagine an entire movie about how shitty film fans are?
Never watched a Kevin Smith movie, eh?
Goddamn I wish this got greenlit
that form of nerd is dead in media. It's normalized now, if that was realised today everyone popular "news" site would blast it for being an old stereotype even though nerds like that still exist
Undergrads was the Eltingville we never deserved.
That’s about how shitty repressed homosexual Inkers are.
this
now that the OP question was answered, are we allowed to talk about how much we want to fuck Bill? I know that's why this thread was made.
Imagine an alt timeline where eltingville started the nerd-culture boom!
I WISH this show got green-lit so bad, if anything its more relevant than ever. Maybe them as stereotypes are a bit outdated, but I feel like put into a more modern context, it could garner a pretty dedicated following with animation fans today. It would sure as shit be one of the most high quality adult cartoons out there.
Take your meds
Watch it again and see
No.
it's so funny how many male anons were trying to prove how unfuckable bill was and it only made everyone more exited. checkmate user
>Inkers
You mean tracers, right?
How is Chasing Amy about Film fans, user. I don’t see it.
do it
Any drawfags willing to do some rule 63?
do it
>I don’t see it.
Because you were born some time post 1990, you stupid kid
I still don't understand how a greasy peace of shit like Bill has so many female fans.
big mistake opening this can of worms, user
allowing women to use the internet was a mistake
who said the wallet was allowed to have an opinion
w-women??
He never really had any except for one femanon until recently
It's because mainstream comics fans are dumb as shit. Look at this board for proof. He did another less successful version for pretentious Indie comic fans too, art school guys that only read Fantagraphics and shit.
until recently?
it's three of them
>Any drawfags willing to do some rule 63?
that'd just be a more vulgar Teen Girl Squad
Even three is far more than I'd expect.
He's an angry, repressed, slightly powerhungry but ultimately cowardly nerd who has small moments of clarity throughout the series, giving him potential for healing/redemption. he's like Kylo Ren with pimples and glasses. Chicks love that shit.
This. These threads are just probably one ugly femanon trying to push her coomer wet dream.
Something about the EC pilot that I appreciate which stands out a lot from the comics is that their friendship seems much more stable than it did in the source material. They make up pretty shortly after the opening fight, Bill expresses some regret to the concept of falling out with Josh (plus he wanted the Doctor Who DVD back), they have the "ELTINGVILLE CLUB- GO!!!" thing that they never did in the comic IIRC (although MIGHTY ELTINGVILLE MANNER did make a resurgence with Bill in the last issue), and so on. The most prominent example is when they get booted out of the movie theater, as Bill responds to this by making a motivational speech about how awesome they are before continuing to have a great day. I feel like if the same scenario went down in the comics, they'd just start bickering with each other and storm off.
Sure, there are still dysfunctional elements (see the intro fight and the ending) but as a whole they seemed much more stable than they were in the comics. It was sort of like a proto-Anime Club, in that it was more "four assholes vs. the world" than "four assholes vs. themselves".
Personally, I would have enjoyed a less dark spin on the EC. Even if they were total dickheads, the way their friendship degrades is very punchy and sad to watch play out. Oh, well.
That image makes it clear they're turned on by misogyny. There might be women lurking this thread, masturbating. Good job, dumbass. You're making them hornier.
but their degrading "friendship" is a huge part of the original. Trying to supplant that with a lighter, more sitcom-y tone feels like it misses the entire point of the series
looks like the wallet has a brain
Are we REALLY going to have this thread AGAIN
