All things considered, she did the best she could reasonably be expected to given how she was raised

>Given the best trainers since childhood
>is a retard who causes most of her problems
>loses a shitload of fights

when will people realize that Aang was coddled his way to defeating Ozai

How so?

okay, the white lotus, specifically Iroh, all the old masters we saw in season 3, and Aang set up this stronghold to teach the next Avatar. You'd think all those people together would focus on diplomacy and philosophy and shit. How come, after what was probably 10 years of private schooling, she has zero conflict resolution skills and barely any better at bending than when she was a fat little big brat

Because it's been nearly a century since all those old masters died.

I think Season 1 should've been all about a conflict with her and Tenzin over the White Lotus. She feels like they prepared her well, whereas Tenzin says that they destroyed her ability to spiritually progress.

When you give examples user

She did but she's also proof that every Avatar needs an assigned therapist from the day they begin training and a college degree of some kind.

Most of the fights she loses are against super prodigies that would've given the old cast a run for their money. Any of the bloodbenders would've destroyed kid Aang.

The White Lotus trained her to be a warrior savior and most of the crises in her time heavily involve politics. She was ill-prepared and the fault lies with her masters.

That’s exactly it tho. She had no worldly experience, just combat training does not make her a good avatar. Every avatar before her had to go find there own bending masters to teach them, finding the one most suitable for themselves.

This. People always ignore the context. Fuck the White Lotus and fuck Republic City.

>White Lotus trained a weapon, not a person
>ignorant of the world, her role and social customs
>bad writing

>loses to literal faceless mook

Because Aang never got captured by randos?

If only the show was aware of its MC being taught wrong and being stupid.

The losing fights part was bullshit, Korra should have been able to beat anyone's ass, but the problems should have required more diplomacy where her aggressive nature would fail her.

Aang wasn’t trained by master benders of all elements from childhood up until he was an adult. Korra being retarded is a stretch to believe considering she was taught by the white lotus, but you’d think she’d at least be more impressive than a child like aang at fighting

Aang lost to regular soldiers. Korra lost to an elite unit trained to specifically nullify a bender with the element of surprise.

It was, actually. That's what makes it so frustrating.

Aang is a child, korra is supposedly a master bender of every element save air trained since early childhood. She never wins any impressive fights, hell she doesn’t really even beat amon, she just knocks him out a window after he got hit by lightning, and even then he only leaves because he revealed his bending.

>korra is supposedly a master
She's never addressed as master or anyone ever asks her to teach. She's just a kid. You can't become a master of martial arts being a teen, it just doesn't happen.

You really love clinging to that straw man, don't you?

Her problem was she was the headstrong girl who basically ended up getting cucked by a lot of people. if you wanted a strong female protagonist, have her actually causing a lot of the change and fighting "against the man". instead she is the man's bitch, listening to the same old bunch of people.

Korra didn’t have her training skipped like aang because there wasn’t a war, she had to master the elements in order, and was on air when the show starts. She is supposed to be a master of water, earth, and fire at that point

desu they probably should have taught her humility as soon as she had the "im the avatar, DEAL WITH IT"
if thats not a bad sign idk what is

From the looks of it. The White Lotus weren't interested in the spiritual aspects of the Avatar. They just wanted to much sure she could take out the Red Lotus when the time came. Not that there were anyone left that could teach her that. Except, you know, HER PAST LIVES.

wasn't the whole thing that the old fella couldnt get in touch with his spiritual side? i mean. thars yer problem

This is why Zaheer is as much a teacher to Korra as an adversary.

so thats their best excuse, we didn't think she needed spiritual training until she did and now we cant get it

Yep. As always, shitty writing is the main culprit. The show really was doomed from the start.

She's a very good fighter in three elements but not a master, she's in her teens. She shows proficiency but nothing that other non-prodigy benders in their respective elements cannot replicate. Mastery goes beyond punching good.
And even if she were a master, going against ninjas who've been trained to take down benders in the middle of an ambush will always put her at a disadvantage. Aang's first instinct when confronted with a weird technique is evade and get the fuck out of dodge, and even then he got captured a couple of times.
