Anyone else think Disney's going to permanently retire T'Challa in all media, comics included, by the end of the year? Probably replace him with Shuri
People keep saying Killmonger's coming back too, and want him to be the replacement: that'd be hilarious honestly
T'Challa's done
Aw man i can't stop thinking about him, when i close my eyes.....
No? If anything, he'll probably continue to have a large presence in the source material and various adaptations. The MCU is really the only thing at an impasse right now.
No.
He's been around since the 1960's so of course not
>Anyone else think Disney's going to permanently retire T'Challa in all media, comics included, by the end of the year? Probably replace him with Shuri
I could definitely see them doing that. Weren't there rumors that disney was going to shut down Marvel comics altogether?
But yeah, I could see them retiring T'Challa since it would be impossible to adapt any new stories he's in to the big screen.
It would be in the same vein of Disney forcing Marvel to push Inhumans at the expense of Mutants. Because Disney can make movies about one of them but not the other
If anything, they will put Black Panther in every Marvel product that isn't the MCU from now on.
I very much disagree. At this moment in time, new story arcs are largely decided on as a matter of creating story idea fodder for the MCU. So if they can't make a movie or tv series or something profitable out of a character or team, they'll shelf it.
Don't think about this from Marvel's perspective. Think about it from Disney's
They'll give T'Challa a big send-off and retire him for good and put Shuri or Kaspar or fucking Killmonger at the forefront
What in the ever loving fuck are they going to adapt from Aaron's Avengers?
Stop being a retard
I don't think the Avengers are that big of a push right now because they're not the team being prepped for the MCU.
The X-men are. That's why they're getting a ton of play, since Disney doesn't want to retread the same ground that Fox did so they're going to try working around it by using the Hickman stuff as the new foundation for the X-men going forward in other media.
But, iirc, they are starting up a Moon Knight thing at Marvel Studios. If they get bored or somehow burn through other crossovers first, I could see them doing something with the Khonshu bullshit
If that is the case, then Captain America and Iron Man should both be gone from current Marvel comics, since their arcs have ended in the MCU.
My guy, the tweet announcing Chadwick's death is currently the most liked tweet of all time by a margin of 2 millions. TV channels around the world have gotten their biggest audience in years for playing "Black Panther" those last few days. You got the most important people on TV, the most important people on Hollywood, the most important people on music, sports, academia, all repeating "Wakanda Forever" the past week. The Mouse is many things, but "blind" isn't one of them.
There's no way in hell they are looking at this and thinking "yep, we cannot use this character that just got massively more popular too earn a single dime anymore".
Why would someone be stupid enough to do that? It makes sense to retire him in the movies because they have a different story going. It makes no sense for them to get rid of him permanently in the comics.
OP seems to believe that Marvel is only "allowed" to publish stories that are going to serve the MCU.
yeah it's not liked all new all different marvel happened and changed all these popular character during the peak of mcu
All characters that are dead in the MCU are alive in the comic books.
>There's no way in hell they are looking at this and thinking "yep, we cannot use this character that just got massively more popular too earn a single dime anymore".
My impression is that it's because they want to create synergy between the comics and the movies. So that whatever is represented in the comics lines up with what is seen in the movies.
The biggest issue here is that Marvel will still want to make more Black Panther movies. Cap and Tony are done but in an expected way, where they weren't expected to show up in any more movies. My guess is that they'll either scrap future Black Panther movies (in which case T'Challa will be left as is) or they'll replace T'Challa with Shuri or someone else, in which case they'll try to keep the comics in line with the movies, at least at first
Dont be dumb. Before he even made his MCU debut, he was pr popular and that didnt stop the tons of BP comics and cartoon apearances from being made beforehand. He'll be fine, if anything they'll probably either freeze his live action appearances or pull a Terrance Howard/ Ed Norton and recast
There was a time colon cancer of a black man in Hollywood during a pandemic effecting mostly the impoverished and immuno-comprimised would have gotten a different kind of thread here.
Shuri's already replaced him once in the comics, dumb movie casuals.
It's not always 1-1, but it makes it difficult to have brand synergy when a character who's mainstream face has died is still appearing in the source material.
My guess is that that would milk this by having a big send-off comic for T'Challa, maybe to finish up Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda and then more or less retire the character and have the Black Panther comics focus on Shuri or some such. But I imagine they'd want to avoid using a character who can't show up in his own movies anymore.
I'm just trying to think of this from the perspective of the suits at Disney and whether they would scrap potential Black Panther 2 money or just give t'challa a big dramatic send-off before replacing him with Shuri (at least until they stop making Black Panther movies)
Why the fuck would they need to farm new storylines when they already have over eight fucking decades of source material, you absolute retard?
My impression was that they'd want to distance their x-men from the Fox movies since, well, the fox movies covered a lot of the most famous shit.
I think the main gist would be to get out from the shadow of the Fox movies and their perfect casting and create new associations that people have with the x-men.
Like, do you really think they're going to make a THIRD attempt at Dark Phoenix?
>It's not always 1-1, but it makes it difficult to have brand synergy when a character who's mainstream face has died is still appearing in the source material.
Well, that is the case for quite literally all characters that are dead in the MCU. They are still alive in the comics.
What you are saying that it's going to happen still hasn't happened to any character that isn't going to be in the MCU anymore. Why would it happen to the biggest moneymaker?
They don't and have not done this shit for anything else, why do you think it would start now?
You do understand any perceived synergy is because of hack writers who want dibs or don't know the material or don't bother learning the material, right? It's not corporate mandate, it's retards with lattes who can't be bothered to so much as look at a wiki in-between bouts of complaining about meaningless shit on Twitter
Kevin Feige wouldn't have em do some dumb shit like that. Plus if they really wanted to be sick fucks, they'd Carrie Fisher the guy like they did for Rise of Skywalker. They're not gonna mess with their cash cow Marvel
No, you goddamn moron.
>That's why they're getting a ton of play, since Disney doesn't want to retread the same ground that Fox did so they're going to try working around it by using the Hickman stuff as the new foundation for the X-men going forward in other media.
You are an actual fucking retard if you think that they're going to start with Hickman
No they didn't. Fox X-Men barely covered God Loves Man Kills, Dark Phoenix, Frank Miller Wolverine, and Days of Future Past. There's literally hundreds of other X-Men stories from decades past they never even considered, let alone fucking referenced or poached a character from.
Reminder we never got the Shiar, or Mojoworld, or Arcade, or fucking Genosha, or Asteroid M. No Mister Sinister, no Nimrod, no Bastion, no John Sublime, barely touched Weapon Plus, no Shadow King, barely any Juggernaut, no morlocks, and as such none of the stories associated eiyh sny of them, plus literally nothing from shit like Excalibur or X-Factor. You're talking out of your ass.
You don't need Jonathan Hickmans shit when they never even fucking so much as referenced anything to do with the ORIGINAL Krakow story in the movies, or any of the thousand others. Fucks sake dude. You could go on and on and on.
>What you are saying that it's going to happen still hasn't happened to any character that isn't going to be in the MCU anymore. Why would it happen to the biggest moneymaker?
Because it's their biggest moneymaker. My impression would be that they would want to keep some semblance of parity while they're making movies for the character. I doubt they'll kill T'Challa off for good but they will keep him out of the spotlight when if they introduce Shuri as the successor in BP2
They should just end the MCU. Most people were done with it after Endgame anyway.
Oh you mean like how they retired Steve Rogers and turned Spider-Man into Iron Man's twink sidekick?
